1/2 College Football Playoff Reaction & Look at National Championship Betting Line.

So those games didn’t disappoint last night, unless you bet on Oklahoma or Clemson. If you were just watching as a fan, that Georgia and Oklahoma games was one of the best football games in recent memory. Lots of offense and a quick start by Oklahoma followed up by a quick answer from Gerogia. Then Oklahoma looked to be pulling away with it and didn’t look like they could be stopped. First turning point of the game and momentum change was when Oklahoma pulled the ol squib kick before the half and that allowed Georgia to get a last second field goal to cut the deficit to 14. Then Georgia looked to be pulling away with 24 unanswered points. Then Oklahoma answers with two touchdowns in a row and it seemed like the Dawgs were dead (if they ain’t dead yet, they certainly will die next Monday) after the fumble that Oklahoma returned for a touchdown. Georgia puts together quit a drive and scores to tie it up with 55 seconds left. I thought that was too much time to leave the Heisman winner but apparently not. They split turns hitting field goals in the first overtime and then things got exciting in the second overtime. Oklahoma sets up for a field goal and….”THE KICK IS BLOCKED!” At this point, if you bet on Georgia to cover the (-3) you were feeling pretty shitty that after such an emotional swinging game you were just going to get your money back with a push. BUT THEN – Sony Michel breaks it up field and NO ONE IS GOING TO CATCH HIM! TOUCHDOWN GEORGIA AND THE BULLDAWGS ARE HEADED TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! What a game and what a trip to fucking COVER CITY.

As for Bama – that defense showed up and Nick Saban had this team prepared. This was a pretty tight game into the 3rd quarter but things changed quickly when the big man came to the party. Da’Ron Payne with a huge interception followed by catching a touchdown pass. Yes, the 6’2 308 pound defensive lineman caught a touchdown pass. If you don’t believe me and live under a rock, here it is: (ESPN Deportes call – TOUCHHDOWN PAYNE)

That was the dagger and the Clemson offense could not put anything together against this Bama defense. Roll Damn Tide. If you took the (-3) here it was never in question.

National Championship Alabama (-4.5) vs Georgia – my initial reaction to that is that it seems like Vegas is BEGGING people to bet on Georgia. That’s exactly what people are doing. 24 hours after the line was posted, 51% of the early action is on Georgia to cover the (+4.5). It’s early but I think (-4.5) might be too much for me to take Bama in the Championship game. If the action keeps pouring in on Georgia, the line may come down to (-3). Ideally, I would want to take Bama at (-3) and buy half a point to get (-2.5). I’m going to monitor the action throughout the week and wait until Sunday or Monday to lock something in.
