Phil Mickelson blew off Shubhankar Sharma thinking he was a reporter:

So Saturday, Phil was on the practice green before his round and Shubhankar Sharma, current tournament leader approached him to introduce himself. I can see the whole thing playing out, young 21 year old approaching Phil who he considers a legend (don’t we all):

SS – “Mr. Mickelson, I just wanted to….”

PM – “I’ll talk after the round.”

SS – “But Phil..”

PM – “I SAID I’D TALK AFTER THE ROUND, GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE” *drains a 30 footer*

SS – “Phil, I am actually leading the tournament, I just wanted to take a second to introduce myself and meet you.”

PM – “Holy shit! My bad man! How the hell are ya!?”

The two would end up playing the final round in the same group on Sunday. I think the young Sharma might have been a little nervous playing with a legend because he went from shooting 65, 66, 69 to a 74. Hey, still better than we would have shot! I just wish that I could get my hands on a video of the exchange that took place on the practice green Saturday, that had to have been absolutely fucking hilarious.

Phil would go on to shoot a 66 in the final round and beat Justin Thomas in a playoff, taking the $10 MIL Purse to the face. It was a meaningful win for Phil, who wins his first tourney in his last 102 tries. His last win was the British Open back in 2013. Lefty proved that he still has the stuff to compete with the young studs on the tour and that’s great to see.
