5/21 VIP Picks
Well we had a little excitement on the baseball diamond yesterday with a 6 run 9th from the Braves. Good thing for that because the Rockets got run out of the gym last night and the Jets season came crashing down.
MLB:
Cardinals (Mikolas) (-210) - coming off a cold day, I’m going with my confidence on this one no matter what the moneyline closes at. No one in the Royals lineup have seen Mikolas but he comes into tonight’s game 5-0 with an ERA that is about half of Ian Kennedy’s. The Cards lineup has a .292 avg in 72 at bats against against Kennedy. The Royals have only covered the +1.5 in 2 of their last 5 games but I’m still playing the moneyline in this one.
Braves (Folty) (+106) - Team A career numbers against the starting pitcher - .238 avg in 105 at bats. Team B career numbers against the starting pitcher .296 avg in 81 at bats. Team A is 26-18 and Team B is 28-17. Team B is listed as +106 underdogs, I’ll take that in a heartbeat. With the success the Braves have had against Pivetta in the past, I don’t think any 9th inning heroics will be needed tonight like they were yesterday. Great value here.
NBA:
Celtics (+7) - The first three games of this series have been one sided. The Celtics in the first two and then the Cavs in Game 3. I think that changes tonight and we get a competitive close game right until the end. Brad Stevens will make adjustments from Game 3 and the Celtics will come out with a strong push. The real dagger to the Celts in Game 3 was their young guys had a cold start and they never got going. I like the Celtics to cover +7 and I think they will be in position to have a chance winning this game outright tonight.
NHL:
Capitals ML - I know we have gone on the coldest NHL streak in KofSports history (6 straight) but I really like the Caps at home tonight. Their backs are against the wall and their home crowd will be going absolutely fucking nuts tonight. How do they do it!? Don’t give up an early lead, Caps need to come out strong and get the first goal in this game. The Lightning have won three straight BUT the Capitals have out shot them 106-65 in those games. The Caps out shoot AND out score the Lightning tonight and force a Game 7.
