Warriors Open the Finals as the largest favorites since 2000-2001 Lakers

The Warriors open up the 2017-2018 NBA Finals as the largest favorites since 2000-2001 Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers beat the 76ers in that series four games to one. Ironically, Tyronn Lue was part of that Lakers team although he will always be remembered as being under Allen Iverson in that series.

The Warriors open up with a series price of -1000. For those of you who don’t know how betting odds work, that means you need to risk $1,000 to profit $100. On the flip side, the Cavs are +680 which means you can risk $100 to profit $680. So what’s the best bet? Warriors. Warriors. Warriors again. There is no way that this Cavs team can beat this Warriors team in a series – as long as it is officiated correctly. Even if the refs try to fix games to extend the series, I don’t see this series going longer than six games. I just don’t see this Cavs team keeping up with the scoring of the Warriors.

This will be the fourth year in a row that the Warriors and Cavs have played in the NBA Finals and this is definitely the worst Cavs team that LeBron has brought to the Finals. The Warriors have been favorites in all three of the previous Finals meetings between these two and they have won two out of three. -220, -220, and -300 were the odds in the last three years. The Cavs won in the 2015-2016 season as +180 dogs so $100 would have won you $180 that year.

If you plan to bet the Warriors, I suggest you take it as soon as possible because I only expect the line to keep going up. This Warriors team is so much better than the Cavs and realistically this series should only go four or five games. You don’t get to use this term meaningfully that often but I’ll use it for this series – “LOCK OF THE CENTURY!” I’d put a million on it if I had it.
