Two losing days in a row and I’ll own it. Christian Vasquez hit a homerun that ended up being the difference in the Red Sox win over the Astros. The total shots were way down in the hockey game - 48 combined and that led to the under. Happ wasn’t bad but the Jays bullpen blew it late. Yankees got the win for us though. Like I always say, there’s ups and downs but it’s not a cold streak until you lose three days in a row. We don’t lose three days in a row very often. To the picks.
Cubs (Lester) (-160) - Steven Matz will pitch for the Mets today and he was pretty good in the Month of May where he only allowed more than one earned run in one of his five starts. However, this Cubs lineup has good numbers against him and has a .364 avg & .727 slg% in 33 at bats. Baez, Bryant, & Rizzo have all taken him deep before. Lester will pitch for the Cubs and he’s been pretty good all season. He’s held this Mets lineup to a .204 avg in 147 at bats.
Indians (Clevinger) (-130) - This is the value play of the day. The Indians will take on Kyle Gibson today and I say that like it will be a challenge but it won’t be. They have a .354 avg & .555 slg% in 167 at bats. These are GREAT numbers and 167 at bats is a huge sample size. Five out of nine guys in the Indians lineup have hit a homerun against Gibson including 3 by Encarnacion. This is my favorite play of the day.
Phillies (Arrieta) (-125) - Arrieta has held this Giants lineup to a .226 avg in 146 at bats. Jake the Snake comes into today’s game 5-2 on the season with a 2.16 earned run average. The Phillies lineup will face this dude:
Cavs / Warriors Over (215) - I know that they needed overtime for the over to hit in Game 1 but 7 out of their last 10 games against each other have gone over 215. I expect both teams to come out playing at that up tempo pace that they always play at when they meet up with each other. I like the over trend to continue tonight and if for some reason it doesn’t, I’ll be like:
