Closer blows save, his moneyline bet, & breaks his hand.

Closers are a crazy breed, they are intense, passionate, and competitive. That’s just the nature of the position - their job is to come in and put the nail in the coffin. Things get a little dangerous when you put them in a save situation when they have a moneyline bet on their own team to win and they blow it.

Hunter Strickland came into a 4-2 game in the 9th inning on Monday with a save opportunity butttttttttt he blew it. He has been pretty solid this season but things didn’t work out for him on Monday when he gave up three runs on three hits and two walks. His ERA jumped from 2.01 to 2.84 - yikes! I’d like to see the reverse movement of his bank account after he blew that save and his moneyline bet. He’s making $1.5 mil this season but he will be on the sidelines for 6-8 weeks after punching a wall and breaking his pitching hand.

Two takeaways from this one:

  1. We will finally have an injured athlete who will NOT be playing Fortnite the whole time they are out.

  2. Hunter - you make $1.5 million this season, why have you not signed up to become a member of KofSports Nation yet?
