6/27 VIP Picks

Scherzer dominated, only gives up one run, and loses 1-0. Where are the Nats bats? The under was on pace in the Cubs Dodgers game until Baez hit a Grand Slam in the 6th inning. Luckily we did catch a break with an A’s come back and the Diamondbacks win was never in doubt. Another mediocre day going 2-2. The picks will come around, they always do. If you missed the memo yesterday, I have extended everyone’s membership for a week at no charge to make up for the mediocreness lately. Don’t want no mediocre.

Braves (Newcomb) (-144) - 8-2 Sean Newcomb with a 2.59 earned run average taking on Luis Castillo 5-8 with a 5.70 earned run average. Castillo has only faced this Braves lineup one time and he didn’t last long, the Braves beat him 8-1 last season on August 20th. Newcomb has faced this Reds lineup a couple times and he has held them to a .257 avg in 35 at bats. I like the Braves to start out our upcoming winning streak and they start at 12:10 EST.

Mariners (LeBlanc) (Even) - How can you not like this value today? Alex Cobb has had some good games and some bad games this season but more of the bad. He is 2-9 with a 6.56 earned run average. This Mariners lineup is hitting just under .300 against him in 58 at bats. Cobb allowed 9 earned runs and 14 hits in 5 innings against this Mariners team last season in a 9-2 loss. I’m a bit concerned with that fact that the moneyline is listed as even right now - wait until later on to put this one in just in case the Mariners are resting someone. Wade Leblanc is coming off of the worst start of the season but that was against a much better lineup than he will face tonight. Other than that last start, Leblanc has been impressive this season. I think he will be good enough tonight and he should get PLENTY of run support. If you want, check in with my around 5 p.m. and I’ll let you know if I’ve heard of any scratches.

Twins (Gibson) (-145) - Kyle Gibson will start for the Twins and he has held this White Sox lineup to a .213 avg is 94 at bats. That’s impressive but that’s not the best part about this matchup. The best part is that this Twins lineup has already beat 2-9 James Shields this season and the most recent was in convincing fashion. They scored 7 earned runs in 6 innings against him. Another stat that looks pretty good is 6 of the 9 people in the Twins lineup have hit a homerun against him. Shields is coming off of his worst start of the season where he allowed 8 runs. This is one I’d jump on quick because the line will continue to drop throughout the day.

Giants (Bumgarner) (-155) - First time for us betting on Bumgarner this season and what a matchup it is. He has been building up his stamina since coming back from a broken hand but he is back to being Bumgarner. He went 8 shutout innings in his last start and I am confident he is back to being himself. He will be up against a Rockies lineup that he is familiar with and has held to a .250 avg in 208 at bats (big sample size). The little success that these Rockies hitters have had against him have come at Coors Field and the thin air, tonight’s game is being played in San Fran - advantage - MAD BUM. He should get run support too since this Giants lineup has a.346 avg in 104 at bats against Kyle Freeland.

Red Sox / Angels Under (9.5) - I know, it’s daunting to think of taking the under at Fenway after we took it last weekend and the final score was 14-10. However, believe it or not the under is 8-2 in the Sox last 10 games played at Fenway. Rick Porcello will start for the Sox and he pitched 6 scoreless innings against the Angels earlier this season. He also had two impressive starts against them last year when he allowed 3 earned runs over 8 innings on July 23 and 3 earned runs over 6.1 innings on June 23. Porcello has allowed 3 earned runs or less in 12 of his 16 starts this season. Andrew Heaney will start for the Angels and only four Sox have faced him before. That was back on July 20, 2015 when Heaney went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Heaney has allowed 3 earned runs or less in 10 of his 13 starts this season. I like the under at 9.5 tonight.

We are due for a huge fucking day and I'm feeling good about these picks, LFG!
