7/4 VIP Picks

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! There are a few requirements for today's picks:

1. Each pick must be a JACKHAMMER - yes, that's right ALL JACKHAMMERS today - BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM! Fireworks baby!

2. Each team must have a U.S.A color in their uniform - Red, White, or Blue!

We go 3-0 last night and are on a 7-1 run over the last two days and on top of that we are riding a 3 game JACKHAMMER win streak that we will look to extend in a big way today!

Now I don't care what kind of music you like or dislike, you need to take a few minutes to start your Fourth of July by listening to this one:

Red Sox (ERod) (-130) - I get it, I get it Eddy has had two tough starts in a row but he has faced some pretty tough lineups in the Yanks and Mariners. He’s still 9-3 on the season and he has dominated weak lineups like the one he will face today. He’s only allowed more than 3 earned runs in 4 of his 16 starts this season and Erick Fedde has allowed 3 or more in all of his starts this season. There is no history between each lineup and opposing starting pitchers for this one but I’m counting on the Sox dropping a crooked number on Fedde. This one starts at 11 a.m. so wake the fuck up and crack a beer. It’s America’s birthday and this one is being played in the Nation’s Capital. LFG.

Twins / Brewers Under (8.5) - You didn’t think you would hear me saying Brew and Under on the 4th of July did you? I’ll take the OVER on all beers/beverages consumed by KofSports Nation today but I’m taking the under for runs scored in this game. No lineup history in this one but Jose Berrios is averaging 2.47 earned runs per start this season (17 starts) vs. Chase Anderson who is averaging 2.56 earned runs per start this season (16 starts). The trends on this one scream under and that's what I'm rolling with.

Phillies (Nola) - Nola is 10-2 this season with a 2.48 earned run average. He has quite a lopsided pitching matchup today when he takes on David Hess. The Orioles have only won 1 of his 8 starts this season. He’s had a real rough stretch in his last 4 games when he has allowed 5, 5, 5, and 6 earned runs - he had less than 6 innings pitched in all of those starts. Another trippy fact for you, Aaron Nola is from New Orleans, LA (NOLA) - trippy right? That doesn’t have anything to do with the pick but I just wanted to point that out. Let’s go Phillies!

Angels (Richards) (-110) - They will take on Mike Leake today who they have a .305 avg against in 128 at bats. Trout, Upton, and Simmons have all taken Leake deep before and 5 of the 9 in the Angels lineup have an extra base hit against him before. Garrett Richards will make his first start since May 27th. Richards beat this Mariners lineup already this season back on May 4th when he went 6.2 scoreless innings against them.
