Well the Nationals / Marlins pick may have been the worst pick of my career - the numbers screamed under but they come out and both teams scored 26 total runs………………..the Braves matchup looked good to but that didn’t work out either. Twins won and we went 1-2 last night. We are still 12-3 since Monday and I’m looking to close out the week strong to set the KofSports best week ever record. The record for the best week stretch of all time came April 12th-18th of this year when we went 20-5-2. That was when we had MLB, NHL, & NBA to play so this streak has been even more impressive since we have focused on MLB. So we need to go 9-2 from today until Sunday to break the record. It will depend on the matchups but we basically need to go 3-1 twice and 3-0 once to break the all time record and finish the week 21-5. OR, we could just go 3-0, 4-0, & 4-0 to blow the record out of the water and finish 23-3. Let’s go for that!
Red Sox (Sale) (-1.5) - The books are not offering much of a Sale tonight with this price but the moneyline is basically unplayable unless you are putting it in a parlay. The run line is still juiced pretty hard but it is still a valuable play. The Red Sox are 9-1 against the -1.5 run line in their last 10 wins. They are also 9-1 against the -1.5 run line in wins when Chris Sale has started this season. The Sox are coming off of a day off after sweeping the Nationals and will take on the Royals who are just 4-24 in their last 28 games. Jason Hammel will start for the Royals and he is just 2-10 this season with a 5.56 earned run average. The Sox come in hitting just under .300 against him in 83 career at bats. Moreland, Bogaerts, Martinez, Bradley Jr, and Devers have all hit homeruns against him. To say the Sox rocked Hammel last time they played him is an understatement. They put up 8 earned runs in 4.2 innings at Fenway Park back on April 30th of this season. There’s a reason the lines are so heavy on this game. This one is more than a JACKHAMMER - it’s basically a wrecking ball for your bookie. We will just call it a JACKHAMMER though.
Rays / Mets Under (7) - deGrom must start for action in this one, he is the single highlight of the Mets season. The final score has either gone under or pushed at 7 in 10 of deGroms last 13 starts. He has held this Rays lineup to a .232 avg in 56 at bats. The Rays will have Stanek starting and then the bullpen behind him. The Rays have gone under or pushed at 7 in 7 of their last 8 games and that includes a series against the Astros who have one of the best offenses in the league. There should be dominant pitching in this one and I’m hoping for a 1-0 final score.
Orioles (Bundy) (+128) - We went with the Twins last night but tonight’s a different matchup and we are going with the underdog O’s. Both teams have been struggling and both have lost 4 of their last 5 games. The Orioles will take on Lance Lynn who just put balls on a tee for the Cubs in his last start when he allowed 7 earned runs in 1.2 innings pitched. The O’s come in with a .325 avg & .725 slg% in 40 at bats against him. Mark Trumbo has 3 career homeruns against Lynn. Dylan Bundy has held this Twins lineup to a .230 avg in 61 at bats. He also pitched 7 scoreless innings against this Twins lineup in a 3-2 win back on March 29th of this year. Good value on these “underdogs” tonight.
Diamondbacks (Godley) (-139) - The DBacks will take on the Padres and Joe Lucchesi who they have already beat one time this season when they put up 4 earned in 5 innings against him back on April 22. Nick Ahmed hit a homerun against him in that game and I played against Nick Ahmed in Legion Baseball back in the day. Zack Godley will start for the Diamondbacks and he has held this Padres lineup in check to a .258 avg in 93 at bats. DBacks should take this one at home.
