7/10 VIP Picks

VIP picks go 3-1 last night and the Yanks let us down from an undefeated night. I took a lot of heat for the Yanks/Dodgers parlay that I played last night but honestly, if I had that same match up today I would hammer it again. You win some, you lose some but we win a lot more than we lose. 3-1 has us off and running for another week and we keep the heat wave of July rolling. Let’s get to the picks for tonight.

Twins (Slegers) (-164) - The Twins will take on Ian Kennedy tonight and they have had his number in the past. They come into tonight’s matchup with a .326 avg & .628 slg% in 129 at bats. 7 of the 9 guys in the Twins lineup have a career long ball against Kennedy and three guys have more than one. The Twins lost to the Royals in the last game Slegers started against them but it wasn’t his fault. He went 5.1 innings and only allowed 2 earned runs - they ended up losing 11-8. Look for the Twins bullpen to be better this time around and Slegers start plus the Twins bats should put us in good position for a win in this one.

Angels (Richards) (-160) - Richard just beat the Mariners six days ago in his first start back from the DL. He went 5.1 innings and only allowed 2 earned runs. He has now held this Mariners lineup to a .254 avg in 122 at bats. The Angels come in with a .329 avg in 140 at bats against Mike Leake and they just beat him on July 4th. I’m liking this matchup again tonight and the Angels are the play here.

Dodgers (Hill) (-1.5) - The Dodgers game through for us covering the run line last night and they have now covered the run line in their last seven wins. Rich Hill will do his part tonight by shutting down the Padres lineup - he’s held them to a . 169 avg in 71 at bats. Eric Lauer will start for the Padres and believe it or not, he already beat the Dodgers once this season 3-0. I’m confident in the Dodgers to cover tonight because they had some success against Lauer in that last game but they were 0-9, 0-9, yes 0-9 with runners in scoring position that game. They also left 13 runners on base. Look for the Dodgers to get a few more guys across the plate tonight and they should cover this -1.5.

Jays / Braves Over (8.5) - Stroman and Teheran must start for action in this one. The Blue Jays lineup has absolutely hammered Teheran in the past and come in with a .341 avg & .693 slg% plus 9 homeruns against him in 88 at bats. The Braves lineup is hitting just under .300 against Stroman in 44 at bats. Both of these teams have gone over 8.5 in 3 of their last 5 games and I’m liking the over in this one.
