7/14 VIP Picks

Friday the 13th hits us and the jackhammer loses. We go 2-2 last night with the Padres blowing a lead in the 9th inning too. Jackhammers are now 16-4. Its been a mediocre week for us and everyone will be getting a free week extension to make up for that. We really need a bounce back day today and it’s looking like we will get it.

Phillies (Nola) (-161) - Aaron Nola is 12-2 with a 2.27 earned run average and he is quickly becoming one of those “guys” that you look forward to betting on every fifth day. He has held this Marlins lineup to a .212 avg in 85 at bats. He also pitched 7.1 scoreless innings against this Marlins team on May 2nd. The Phils will take on Trevor Richards and he hasn’t been good this season coming into this game 2-5 with a 5.24 earned run average. The Phillies already scored 4 earned runs in 3 innings against him earlier this season. Riding the Phillies again tonight.

Twins / Rays Under (8) - Both of these pitchers are good for quality starts in this one and they both have good history against the opposing lineups. Chris Archer has held this Twins lineup to a .195 avg in 82 at bats. Jose Berrios has held this Rays lineup to a .214 avg in a small sample size of 14 at bats. I’m trusting both of these guys to show up and shut the other team down today.

Red Sox (ERod) (-1.5) - I know, this one is a little sour like brushing your teeth with mint toothpaste the morning after drinking too much peppermint schnapps the night before. We can put the blame for last nights loss on Porcelblow but the bats were out like they always are for the Sox. Eduardo Rodriguez is going for his 12th win today and he is coming off two scoreless starts in a row. He has held this Jays lineup to a .237 avg in 114 at bats. Gaviglio will start for the Jays and he went 3 scoreless innings against this Sox lineup back in May but they weren’t as hot back then. I like the Sox to cover the run line today.

If we go 2-0 on day games I will add a bonus play for tonight so check back in around 5:30 EST.
