VIP Picks 7/20

A losing day yesterday with the under in the Cubs Cardinals game not hitting. Under bets are now 5-4-1 in our last 10 so they have certainly not been great. I will stand by the pick and say that I really liked the matchup last night but it didn’t work out for us. We have a full slate of games today and it’s Friday. Let’s get the second half started FOR REAL tonight!

Cubs (Lester) (-132) - 12-2 Jon lester will be up against 3-4 Jack Flaherty. First off, let’s give credit to Flaherty and not forget that he pitched 5 scoreless innings against this Cubs team back in June. However, the Cardinals have lost the five games since then that Flaherty has started. He will also have a tough pitching matchup today when he will be up against 12-2 Jon lester. The Cubbies are 16-2 in games that Lester has started this season, I like my odds. What makes me even more confident is that Lester has held this Cardinals lineup to a .234 avg in 205 at bats (large sample size). The Cubs are averaging 5.5 runs per game in their last 10 games so the bats have been hot. I will take the Cubs at good value to get my weekend started at 2 o’clock on a Friday.

Indians (Bauer) (-1.5) - The Indians have covered the run line -1.5 in 18 of their last 20 wins. Obviously they have lost some games during that stretch but even still - going 18-2 against the run line in their last 20 wins is pretty fucking impressive. They will open the second half tonight taking on Martin Perez who comes in with a 7.67 earned run average and he has only made one losing start since coming back from the disabled list. The Rays and Angels got to Perez for 7 and 8 earned runs earlier this season - Rays rank 22 and Angels rank 15 in runs scored per game this season. The Indians rank 4th in runs per game this season. What I’m trying to say is that I see the Tribe putting up some runs against this guy tonight. All-Star, go pro wearing, Trevor Bauer will start for the Indians tonight and he has held this Rangers lineup to a .221 avg in 77 at bats.

Red Sox (Price) (-188) - Price check! Not the best value on this moneyline but I do like the Sox to come out and get their second half of the season started with a win against a bad Tigers team. David Price will get the start and he has been good this season, when he doesn’t pitch against the Yankees. Matthew Boyd beat the Red Sox back in June but he has been BAD since then and the Sox have the hottest bats in the league. The Tigers have lost the last 5 games that Boyd has started and he has allowed 5, 6, 3, 6, and 5 earned runs. This #1 ranked Red Sox lineup should light him up tonight. Price, should be good - since he’s not facing the Yankees.

Indians ML / Red Sox ML parlay (+130) JACKHAMMER! The Indians are taking on Martin Perez tonight who comes in with an earned run average over 7. The Indians offense is currently ranked 4th in runs scored per game this season so I’m expecting them to put up some runs against Perez. Trevor Bauer will start for the Indians and he has held this Rangers lineup to a .221 avg in 77 at bats. David Price will start for the Red Sox and he has been good this season (when he doesn’t face the Yankees). Matthew Boyd will pitch for the Tigers and although he beat the Sox earlier this season, he’s been bad lately. He’s allowed 5 or more earned runs in 4 of his last 5 starts. It’s Friday - get me a beer, get me a jackhammer, and let’s get to work! I’ve got $500 on it to win $666 (that’s in bitcoin)

Dodgers (Hill) (-150) - I’m excited to see Manny Machado suiting up in Dodger blue tonight. I also think that this addition will build even more confidence in this already confident Dodger locker room and clearly shows that they are GOING 4 IT. The Dodgers have won 10 of their last 15 games and they will take on Wade Miley tonight. I was once offered a signed Wade Miley ball at a sports auction/giveaway and I turned it down. Wade Miley is a bum. Rich Hill should be rested since he hasn’t started a game in 10 days. The fact that he is rested and that he has held this Brewers lineup to a .158 avg in a one game sample size should be enough to make you comfortable taking the Dodgers tonight.
