8/15 VIP Picks

2-1 last night thanks you the Mariners starting pitcher getting hurt in the first inning. That now makes us 4-1-1 in the last two days and it’s cool to have two winning days in a row but it’s not a winning streak until you make it three and then four! Let’s keep it rolling today.

White Sox (Rodon) (-115) - The White Sox come in with a .379 avg & .621 slg% in 87 at bats against Jordan Zimmerman. Zimmerman has pitched against the White Sox twice this season and he allowed 6 runs in 4.1 innings and 4 runs in 5 innings. I don’t think he will be able to keep pace with Rodon today. Carlos Rodon will pitch for the Sox and he had a slow start to the season coming back from an injury but he has been solid lately. He has had six starts in a row where he pitched 6 or more innings and allowed 2 or less earned runs. White Sox offer good value for some hump day day action.

A’s (Anderson) (-130) - How hot are the A’s? They have gone 11-2 in their last 13 games and they have won the first two games of this series against the Mariners. They will go for the sweep today and I like their chances based on the numbers that they have put up against Mike Leake. Leake has actually beat them twice this season but they come in with a .350 avg & .525 slg% in 120 at bats. Those numbers are too much for me to ignore and I’m taking the A’s today.

Giants (Holland) (+160) - Great spot here to hit our second massive underdog in three days. Hyun-Jin Ryu will start for the Dodgers tonight and he has not pitched since May 2nd due to a groin injury. He will be hurting again tonight because I fully expect the Giants lineup to come out and kick him in the dick. They come into this matchup with a .304 avg in 135 at bats against him. They also have a low strikeout rate against him so they put the ball in play. Derek Holland gets the start for the Giants and he has held this Dodgers lineup to a .250 avg in 80 at bats. The Dodgers have lost 5 games in a row and I expect the Giants to make it 6 tonight.
