Good start to the NFL season yesterday and we have a double header tonight! Let’s get a nice hot streak going this week.
Monday Night Football 2 team moneyline parlay:
Lions / Rams (-108) - So most people would probably think to play a teaser on these two but you actually get slightly better odds by just playing the moneylines for both of these teams to win outright. The Lions will play their first game under new head coach Matt Patricia and he should have the defense ready to take on rookie QB Sam Darnold. The Jets are hyping up Darnold but I don’t see a rookie QB going on the road and getting a win tonight. The Lions should be able to keep defenses off balance more this year with the addition of bruising back Legarrette Blount (keep the Blount rolling) and talented rookie Kerryon Johnson. Handing off to Blount and throwing to Johnson out of the backfield should open things up down field for Stafford to make big plays to Tate and Jones. I like the Lions to open up their season with a win tonight. Now for the Rams - there is a lot of hype around them after a great season last year and they loaded up this offseason. I feel like it’s SuperBowl or bust for the Rams this year. This team ranked #1 in points scored per game last season at 30 ppg. The defense was just outside of the top 10 in points allowed per game and they brought in two All Pro cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aquib Talib. I think this defensive unit will be top 5 this year. This Raiders offense only put up 18 points per game last year but two years ago they were a top 10 offense that put up 26 ppg. There is potential for the Raiders to hang around with this high powered Rams offense but I’m counting on the new defense of the Rams to shut them down. I’ll take the Rams to win this game straight up all day long. It’ll be a late one but we should start our Monday Night Football record 1-0 with this parlay that pays just under even money.
Diamondbacks (Godley) (+125) - The DBacks will take on the Rockies tonight and German Marquez who they have absolutely pounded in the past. They come into tonight’s matchup with a .341 avg & .626 slg% in 123 career at bats against him. I’d expect them to put up some run support for Godley tonight who shouldn’t need much. He has held this Rockies lineup to a .223 avg in 112 at bats.
Phillies (Arrieta) (-140) - The Phillies will be up against Erick Fedde who they are very confident against with the success they have had against him. They have a .381 avg & .714 slg% in 42 at bats against him. They have scored 8 earned runs in 11 innings against him this season. Jake Arrieta will pitch for the Phils and he doesn’t have eye popping numbers against this Nats lineup but the Phillies should give him the run support he needs for the win in this one.
