Great night last night going 1-0 but that 1-0 was a nice juicy +129 moneyline on the Colorado Rockies as road dogs where no one thought they could win because the Cubs were the Cubs and Jon Lester is so good in the playoffs and the Rockies had such a tough travel schedule. I think a lot of people overlooked how hot Kyle Freeland has been and if he didn’t get pulled at 82 pitches, he would have thrown a shutout and the Rockies would have won 1-0 in 9 innings and we all wouldn’t be so fucking tired today. Oh well, I’ll take a little less sleep for a little more money any day! We get back into the action tonight with more playoff baseball and the NHL season starts up tonight. I know a lot of you have been around for hockey before but a lot of you guys are new so I’d like to let you know that you can be confident in our hockey picks. We have two full documented seasons and we are 464-300 (61%). To the picks!
A’s / Yankees Over (8.5) - JACKHAMMER - I absolutely love the over in this game. Luis Severino will start for the Yankees and the A’s will go with Liam Hendricks to start but they will be bringing in new pitchers just about every inning. “Kof, why would you take an over with Severino pitching? He has a 3.39 earned run average on the season.” Sure he did, he had a good year but last time he faced this A’s lineup they tied him up to the bed posts and did anything they wanted to him. They scored 5 earned runs (6 total) in 2.2 innings and that game was played in the Oakland Coliseum, not Yankee Stadium. I’m aware that Sevy had a good start against the A’s earlier in the season on May 13th where he only allowed 1 run over 6 innings but that was WAY before this A’s team started clicking and established their identity. They will score runs off Severino tonight. As for the Yankees, they averaged 7 runs per game over their final 10 games so I’m not concerned about them scoring runs for us. Final stat and closer stat for you on this one, these teams played 6 times this season and 4 of them went over 8.5. Here are the final scores from the games that these two teams played this season - 10, 6, 9, 15, 13, and 8. Give me the over.
Maple Leafs (-1.5) - The Maple Leafs will host their long time rival Canadiens tonight. The Leafs finished 34 points ahead of the Canadiens in the regular season last year and they got even better this offseason with the addition of John Tavares(who finsihed #12 in goals scored last year). As dominate as the standings look, the Canadiens actually went 4-0 against the Leafs last year. That will add some additional motivation for tonight and this Maple Leafs team is ready to show that they are true Stanley Cup Contenders.
Sharks (-165) - A lot of experts are picking the Sharks to win the Stanley Cup this year and for good reason. They brought in Evander Kane at the trade deadline last year which was quite the SPLASH and then a few weeks ago they made another SPLASH by trading for defenseman Erik Karlsson. They will open up their season at home tonight when they host the Ducks who finished one point ahead of them in the standings last season. Don’t let the regular season standings fool you, the Sharks won the regular season series 3-1 and outscored the Ducks 13-8. The first round playoff series between these two teams was even more of a display of domination by the Sharks when they swept the Ducks and outscored them 16-4. This Sharks team also took the eventual Stanley Cups Champs to Game 6 in their playoff series. The Sharks are going to be a great team this season and it all starts tonight. SPLASH - that’s me doing a cannonball into the SHARK TANK! LET’S GO!
