Well well well no surprise that the JACKHAMMER hits and MLB JACKHAMMERS improve to 30-12 on the season. More importantly we sweep the MLB Wild Card games with the Rockies +129 on Tuesday and the over at -110 last night. Unfortunately we started off the hockey season with 2 losses last night so if you doubled down on the hammer but took each hockey pick too you broke even. However, I know a lot of you guys have been known to HAMMER and I mean HAMMER the JACKHAMMERS so I’m excited to see some of the tickets you send me today. More playoff baseball today plus football and more hockey. Let’s get to the picks and have a huge day going into the weekend!
Braves (+1.5) - I can tell you for a fact that we haven’t taken a reverse run line all season long but tonight is the perfect matchup for it. The Braves lineup will be up against Hyun-Jin Ryu tonight who they have had success against in the past. They come into tonight’s game with a .350 avg in 40 career at bats. Mike Foltynewicz will pitch for the Braves and he has held this Dodgers lineup to a .268 avg in 56 at bats. With both of these pitchers recent performances, I expect this to be a low scoring game. Ryu has 14 starts this year allowing 3 earned runs or less. Folty has 20 starts this season where he has allowed 3 earned runs or less. I like the success Atlanta’s lineup has against RYU in the past led by their anchor Freddie Freeman who is hitting .625 against him. I think the Braves have a good chance to take this game tonight and they are +157 on the moneyline. That is tempting but I’m more comfortable taking the reverse run line. They can literally lose by 1 and we still get paid. I’m trying to get paid! Braves +1.5.
Not playing Game 1 between the Rockies and Brewers because there isn’t much matchup history and both teams have been absolutely on fire. I can see it going either way.
Predators (-150) - They open up on the road tonight against the New York Rangers. Let’s not forget that this Predators team led the league in the final standings last year with 117 points. This Rangers team finished with just 77 and although I expect them to be better this year, I don’t expect them to knock off the Preds tonight.
Stars (-185) - pricey on the moneyline but for good reason. We had #BetAgainstTheCoyotes trending last year and it worked out well for us all season long. The Coyotes finished with the 3rd fewest points in the league last season. They also have lost to the Stars seven games in a row and they haven’t won a game IN Dallas since Feb 7, 2012. On top of tha, the Coyotes have some injuries to start the season so they will be throwing some young inexperienced guys into their lineup. I like the STAR power of the Stars to shine bright in this one and it should be an easy win for us.
Patriots (-4) / Over (45) - I do like the -10 but I’m a little sketched out about 68% of the public being on it so I think the teaser is the play in this game. A lot of people say that short weeks can make games unpredictable but I think this one is pretty one sided. The Colts are now 1-3 after a loss last week where they decided to go for it on 4th and short from their own territory, turned it over, and basically handed the Texans the game in over time. On top of that, Andrew Luck’s top weapon T.Y. Hilton is probably not playing and it he does, he won’t be 100%. Luck could also be without tight end Jack Doyle again. The Colts must be feeling deflated and the last time Andrew Luck played against Tom Brady, the Pats won 45-7. See what I did there? Looking at the Colts injuries, you may be concerned about points being scored but I definitely don’t think this Patriots defense is as good as they looked last week. They will give up some points. As for the Pats, how did that offense look last week? They dropped 38 on the Dolphins who had only been allowing 17.3 points per game before that. The Patriots offense started to click last week, they get Edelman back tonight, and Gronk is going to play. The Pats might score 40 themselves tonight. Short week’s haven’t been an issue for the Patriots in Tom Brady’s career. They are 10-2 on Thursday Night Football and Brady has thrown 25 touchdowns to 3 interceptions. I got the Pats winning this one and I like it to go over 45.
Josie could be out by the third quarter tonight, she was last time the Pats hosted the Colts, I was there. I DON’T WANNA LOSE YOUR LOVE……..TONIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!
