Fanduel $1M NFL Monday Million Preview ($250k to first)

49’ers @ Packers

So for those of you who aren’t familiar, Fanduel runs the single game contest where you select five players and include one as your MVP (MVP gets 1.5X points). Winning these contests are tough because there are so many different entries and lineup combinations. It’s always a fine line of how many studs and sleepers to play. Here’s a preview of the relevant players available for tonight’s contest that pays $250,000 to first place.

QB:

Aaron Rodgers $20,000 - Rodgers will most likely be in the MVP slot for 75% of the lineups that are entered tonight. He’s still battling an injury but he was able to throw for 442 passing yards and 3 touchdowns last week which led to 28.68 Fanduel points. It would be a bold move to put someone else as your MVP tonight but then again, if Rodgers has a similar game to last week and you don’t have him as your MVP, you are immediately eliminated from competing. I’d go with Rodgers as your MVP and you can plug other sleepers in to the remaining spots.

C.J. Beathard $14,000 - He has put up 19.82 and 22.66 Fanduel points in his first two games as a starter since taking over for injured Jimmy G. He seems like a solid play if you want to go against the 75% of people who will be playing Rodgers. However, be careful what you wish for if you play him because the Green Bay passing defense ranks 4th in the league.

RB:

Matt Breida $12,000 - He is dealing with multiple injuries and he is questionable for this game tonight. It sounds like he is going to play but I always have a hard time trusting people who are questionable with multiple injuries - especially a runningback.

Alfred Morris $11,500 - Ding ding ding - If Breida doesn’t play due to his injuries, Morris is a must play. With the Packers 4th ranked passing defense, you would think the 49ers will try to get the run going on a cold night at Lambeau. Morris is a great play if Breida is out and still a good play even if Breida does play.

Aaron Jones $10,000 - He has scored less than 7 Fanduel points in 2 of his 3 games so far this season. He should see more work than he did last week but I still don’t think he has a huge game tonight.

Ty Montgomery $8,000 - He is appealing because of his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield but he hasn’t scored a touchdown this season. Tough to play a guy who has seen the action that he has but haven’t scored a single touchdown.

Kyle Juszczyk $8,000 - He caught 6 of 7 targets last week and put up 11.7 Fanduel points. That shows that Beathard enjoys having him as a checkdown and I could see him putting together a nice game tonight since the Packers D should play strong coverage on the 49ers receivers.

Jamaal Williams $8,000 - Another Packers runningback who hasn’t scored a touchdown this year. His best game of the season was in week 2 when he put up 8.6 Fanduel points. I don’t expect him to have the best game of his season tonight vs this 49ers rushing defense that is currently ranked 10th in the league.

WR:

Davante Adams $14,000 - MVP Candidate. If there’s one guy who could be your MVP other than Rodgers tonight, this is your guy. He’s coming off of his best game of the season where he put up 24.5 Fanduel points and he’s consistently getting targets this year - 12, 14, 9, 12, & 8. The 49ers passing defense is middle of the pack so the Packers should get the passing game going.

Randall Cobb $11,000 - Cobb hasn’t done much since his 24.7 points game in week 1. He did have 11 targets last week but he was only able to haul in 4 of them. It doesn’t sound like he will be able to play tonight due to a hamstring injury so I would keep him out of your lineups.

Geronimo Allison $11,000 - GERONIMO - would be a good play if he was healthy but he is battling a hamstring injury and it doesn’t look like he will be playing.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling $10,000 - SLEEPER ALERT - This is one of your guys. He is going to get more action with Hobb and Allison injured. He is coming off of a game where he had 7 receptions on 10 targets and scored a touchdown - 16.3 Fanduel points last week. Slide ths guy into your lineups tonight.

Equanimeous St. Brown $9,500 - Another potential sleeper but I’m rolling with Valdes-Scantling instead since he had more targets last week. St Brown caught 3 passes for 89 yards last week.

Marquise Goodwin $8,500 - He is coming back from a hamstring injury too and he has underperformed all year. He doesn’t have more than 3 catches in a single game this year. I don’t see all the stars aligning for him tonight.

Pierre Garcon $7,500 - He is listed as questionable but it looks like he is going to play. Yes, the Packers rank 4th against the pass but I look at Garcon as a nice cheap option at receiver tonight. Beathard targeted him 12 times last week.

TE:

Jimmy Graham $11,000 - The names JIMMY! He has been consistent this year but he hasn’t had a real breakout multi TD game. I think that tonight could be the night. The 49’ers rank 24th in fantasy points allowed to tight ends this season. He is also another MVP candidate for you if you want to go against the Rodgers MVP lineups.

George Kittle $12,500 - Questionable with a knee injury but if he plays, he is a solid option. His best game of the season came two weeks ago against the Chargers when he put up 21.5 Fanduel points.

K:

Robbie Gould $9,000 - my number one ranked KICKER in this game tonight. He put up a goose egg last week but he has typically been pushing double digits in his other games this season.

Mason Crosby $8,500 - He has games of 14 points and 19 points this season but he did miss 4 field goals last week…
