10/18 VIP Picks

Baseball stays hot again! 1-0-1 and we take a push in the Dodgers/Brewers under due to Wade Miley coming out after one batter and a late run in the 9th for the Brewers. The +130 Red Sox moneyline hits and we were spot on with the Sox bats jumping on Morton and knocking him out early. Hockey wasn’t good last night but hockey always starts slow. 17-4-1 in MLB Playoff picks. LET’S KEEP IT ROLLING.

Astros / Red Sox Over (7.5) - I won’t lie to you guys, I had a write up all set before the lines were released and I had the Astros to win backed by Verlander. But then the lines came out and the Astros are -200 lol. So we are on the over tonight and let me tell you why. I’ll start with the numbers - 10 out of the last 10 games between these two have gone OVER 7.5. Even when one team stumbles, the other picks up the offense and we have seen that this series in Game 1 where the Astros won 7-2 and Game 3 where the Sox won 8-2. Both of these lineups are great and so deep. I expect the Stros to get to Price and his 7.71 post season earned run average early and get into the Sox bullpen who give away more free passes to hitters than casinos give to their top customers. Verlander has good numbers against the Sox lineup but they have been hot since they last saw him and have covered the 7.5 themselves the last two nights. 23 runs in their last three games. I think we see another back and forth game tonight and this one goes OVER 7.5.

Broncos (-125) - I’ll take the moneyline here because -1.5 is a number that can burn you like we saw on Sunday with the Bengals even if they didn’t give up the Antonio TD at the end. 1-5 Cardinals host the 2-4 Broncos - tough Thursday Night game for Fox to promote. The Broncos had back door betty last week and they covered against the undefeated Rams. They played them really tough in the second half and they aren’t getting much credit for that. They ended up losing 23-20. That same Rams team that the Broncos played so tough beat this Cardinals team 34-0 earlier this season. The Broncos also beat the Seahawks 27-24 and the Cards lost to the Seahawks 20-17. Case Keenum has two 300+ yard games in a row and although they were playing catch up in both of those games, that’s a good sign for this offense. The Cardinals are just a BAD football team this year and I think the Broncos will win this game on the road.

Blazers (-3.5) - 65% of the public believe that LeBron James and the Lakers should be favored in this game but I couldn’t disagree more. The Blazers are a damn good team and they finished as the #8 seed in the powerful Western Conference last year. They have won 15 games straight against the Lakers and their average margin of victory in the last 10 is 10.8 points. I think this Lakers team has a lot of question marks and a lot to prove. Their Coach already was talking about building for the future and the fact that they have 4 years with LeBron. He knows that LeBron can’t do it on his own (he never has), he needs to wait until next season or the season after that when a few star free agents come to join him in L.A. I think more than 65% of the bets will come in on Lakers moneyline tonight just because LeBron is playing but I’ll take the Blazers to cover -3.5 in this one.

Like I said in the intro, NHL always starts slow but we have some good opportunities tonight.

Devils (-145) - The Devils come in 4-0 on the season and they have had all home games. They will host the Colorado Avalanche who have lost two in a row and they have had some crazy travels in their last few games. They have gone from Colorado to Columbus to Buffalo to Calgary to New York and now across the bridge to New Jersey. I am by no means saying the Devils are only 4-0 because they have been playing at home but it does help keep you fresh when you’re sleeping in your own bed at night. The Devils have impressive wins against the Capitals, Sharks, and Stars. I like the Devils to stay RED hot at home tonight. See what I did there?

Lightning (-1.5) - The moneyline is absurd in this one so we will take the puck line. The Red Wings haven’t won a game this season and they haven’t covered the puck line in 4 of their 6 games. They are coming off of 7-3 and 8-2 losses. Things aren’t looking good for the Red Wings. Meanwhile the Lightning are on a two game winning streak covering the puck line including an 8-2 win and they have started the season 3-1. Bolts should strike at home tonight and cover this puck line for us.
