12/7 VIP Picks
Well that’s how that “emtpy netter” went for us last night. The Leafs get down 4-1 and to make it worse they come all the way back to tie it and then lose 5-4 in overtime. That alone cost us two picks last night. Then the Canucks who had lost 12 of 13 outplay one of the top teams in the league. Finally, the Jaguars can’t cover +11.5 for us so we lose the NFL teaser and that was just the 3rd time all season that teasing against the public didn’t work out. I got some hate mail last night and I deserve it for an 0-4 night but I always stand by the picks I put out there, I was confident in them and if I had the same matchups again today I would take them again. I always have solid reasoning for each pick so it’s not like I’m just putting stuff up just to do it. One final note on last night before we move on to today is if you would have bet against every pick last night in a parlay and put $100 on a Red Wings ML / Canucks ML / Titans / Over it would have paid $5,842. But anyone who would have done that going into last night with those matchups would be an idiot and betting like that long term would have you down thousands. Let’s get the weekend started right with a winning night tonight!
NHL:
Jets (-205) - Usually we don’t play anything below a -200 moneyline but after an 0-4 night last night and the way this matchup lines up, I’m taking it. We can risk 2 units to win 1 on this one but it’s a high percentage play. These two teams just played a couple of weeks ago and the Jets beat the Blues 8-4. You might think the over seems like a good play in this one but the Blues have been struggling and they have scored 2 goals or less in each of their last 3 games. The Blues have lost 7 of their last 9 games while the Jets are hot right now and have won 4 in a row. I get it, -200 is a lot of juice to drink but it’s Friday night so chug it and take the free money.
Ducks (-110) - Here’s a high percentage play with a great price on the moneyline. The Ducks come into this one winners of 5 straight and 7 of their last 8 while the Hurricanes have lost 4 of their last 5 including a loss to these Ducks a week ago. That game was in Carolina and now the Canes are on a two game West Coast trip and it seems like they are treating it more like a vacation than a business trip after their 5-1 loss to the Sharks on Wednesday night. Good price here for the Ducks to stay hot at home.
NBA:
Nuggets (-1) - Not sure how the Nuggets are only favored by 1 in this game. They have won 7 games in a row and have beat better teams than the Hornets during that stretch. The Nuggets are currently 1st place in the Western Conference. The Hornets have lost 3 games in a row all to Western Conference teams and are 0-4 against the Western Conference this season. Their last three losses have been ugly and they are trying to make adjustments for injured starter Marvin Williams. The Hornets lost have lost their last three to the TWolves, Pelicans, and Jazz who are the 10, 11, & 12 spot in the Western Conference standings, I don’t see them knocking off the #1 team tonight. Go Nuggets!
Lakers (+1) - I think things are starting to click for the Lakers and they have won 4 games in a row by 8+ points. They will be on the road taking on the Spurs tonight who they just beat by 8 points on Wednesday. The Spurs have REALLY been struggling and they have some UGLY losses in their last 5 games, look at this shit - 128-89 to the TWolves, 136-105 to the Rockets, 139-105 to the Jazz, and then 121-113 against the Lakers. Those losses make you wonder what’s going on with this Spurs team and they have only won 3 games out of their last 10. No one could guard LeBron the other night when he went off for 42 points and I don’t see anyone being able to guard him tonight. The line is where it’s at because the Spurs beat the Lakers the last time they played in San Antonio earlier this season but this Spurs team is playing bad basketball right now, I don’t see any signs of them turning it around tonight. I don’t always cheer for LeBron, but when I do, I have a ton of money on him.
