12/17 VIP Picks

I don’t know about you but I just have a really hard time believing that a team who got beat by 27 two weeks ago turns around and beats the same team two weeks later. 74% of the public money was on the Seahawks and I knew it was too good to be true. Not a good ending to our week but overall we had a profitable week. We will look to get off to a good start to this week tonight with the Monday Night Football game. Let’s get to the picks.

Saints (-0.5) / Over (44.5) - All of the experts are picking the Panthers to win this one at home because it’s a “must win” game for them. They say that as if the last 5 games didn’t matter that this Panthers team have lost. They will also face a Saints team tonight who comes in 11-2 and will be the best team that they have played all season. The Saints bounced back last week with a win over the Bucs after they took that Thursday Night L to the Cowboys the week before. I don’t see a let down game here tonight for the Saints who are now in the driving seat for the #1 seed in the NFC after the Rams lost to the Eagles last night. The Panthers rank 22nd against the pass and I expect this high powered Saints offense who is averaging 34.4 points per game to get going against this Panthers defense. Sure, the Panthers will come in hyped to try and get a win to stay alive in the Wild Card hunt but I feel like it would have been a much easier option to win a few of the games they have lost during this losing streak than put themselves in a situation where they need to win out in their final three and two of those games are against the Saints. As for the teased over, we need 23 points a side. As mentioned above, the Saints are averaging 34.4 points per game and the Panthers are averaging 24.9 points per game. Both of these teams have been part of high scoring games all season and I don’t think we will have an issue getting over 44.5 tonight.

Predators (-175) - Steep price on the moneyline here but that’s what you get when you bet against a team that has lost 5 of their last 7 and will be taking on a team who just beat them 3-1 last Tuesday. 4 of those 5 losses were by 2 or more goals but I’m taking the moneyline in this one rather than the puckline because it has a better chance of hitting. The Preds have won 3 in a row and they have been battling injuries all season but they are still 22-10-1 which ranks 2nd best in the Western Conference. The Senators are allowing an average of 3.88 goals per game and I like the Preds to take advantage of that tonight.

Not much value in the NBA or College Basketball tonight so we will start our week off with two picks and go 2-0! LFG!
