1/7 VIP Picks

2-1 day yesterday and that Eagles moneyline at +220 made it a NICE day for us! I know it’s all about football right now with the NFL Playoffs and the College Football National Championship tonight but I want to take a moment and recognize the recent success we have had in NBA & NHL - 11-2 in our last 13 NHL and 9-1 in our last 10 NBA. A few of you have been asking about College Basketball and I’ll just say that those plays will come but there’s no need to force plays with the way things have been going for us lately. Since 12/29, we have only had one day that we didn’t profit on the day and that was Saturday. Do I have any regrets for Saturdays plays? Sure, looking back now it’s easy to say that we were aggressive going with Seahawks moneyline instead of the points (which would have hit) and Colts teaser instead of just taking the Colts straight up. However, when you’ve profited 8 of the 9 last days, you can live with a couple aggressive decisions. On to tonight, the College Football National Championship.

Alabama (-5.5) - JACKHAMMER - Alabama and Clemson will play for the National Championship tonight and it will be the 3rd time in the last 4 years that these two have done so. They are hands down the two best programs in College Football. One game that should stand out to you is the first round playoff matchup last year where Bama rolled over Clemson 24-6. A lot of experts aren’t talking about that game from last year and all they want to do is hype this game up so they say these teams split the National Championships they have played head to head recently and both games were decided by less than a touchdown. That’s cool and those are true statements but the most recent game between these two was absolutely dominated by Bama last year in the playoff 24-6. I’ll also point out that Jalen Hurts was the Bama Quarterback in that game and this offense is a lot more explosive now that Tua is at QB. I know, I know - Clemson didn’t have Trevor Lawrence at QB in that game either. He’s a great quarterback and he played great all season, I’ll bow down and give him all the credit he’s earned. But Bama ranks #7 against the pass and they will be the toughest D that Lawrence has faced in his life. A true freshman against a Nick Saban defense means that we will see turnovers, it’s just a fact. This is the x factor and will be the difference in this game. This Clemson defense ranks #1 in the Nation in points allowed per game at 13.4 but Bama is right behind them at #4 allowing 16.4. I will also put it out there that if Clemson played Bama’s schedule, they would have allowed more than 13.4 points per game. I’ll close it out with this, Clemson hasn’t played a game decided by one score since September while Bama was battle tested in the SEC Championship game against Georgia in December. I think that’s another advantage for Bama. There’s really only one more thing to say - Roll. Damn. Tide.

Spurs (-3) - The Spurs are coming into this one riding a 4 game win streak and 3 of those wins have comes against some pretty good teams - Celtics, Clippers, and Raptors. The 4th win came against the Grizzlies and just out of coincidence, that’s the only team the Pistons have beat in their last 5 games. The Pistons have lost 4 of their last 5 and 2 of those losses came by more than 20 points. The Pistons are just 3-7 in their last 10 while the Spurs are 8-2 in their last 10. The Spurs will be on the first game of a two game road trip but they are rested up for this one and they should be able to cover the -3 for us tonight.

Two plays today because there aren’t any other matchups that look great tonigh
