3/14 VIP Picks
Man, I was really feeling good about yesterday and then we go 1-2. The Devils/Oilers scored more goals in two periods than they have in 9 of their last 10 games. It’s feeling a little chilly over the last few days and it’s time that we snap out of it and get ready for a HUGE and I mean HUGE St. Pattys Day weekend. Don’t forget that we are one week away from March Madness so if you want to play in the bracket challenge you need to let me know and get signed up asap. Also just a friendly reminder that MLB Opening Day is just two weeks away and if you put $1,000 on every single MLB pick last year, you would be up $43,000. Baseball is my best and most knowledgeable sport and I can not wait for this season! But until then, let’s get another hockey, nba, and NCAAB streak going! You ready? I’m fucking ready.
PGA:
There will be bets for the Player’s Championship but not today because the first round matchups were very tough. Most of the guys I liked were matched up with people who had really good first rounds last year. I’m taking today to see how things play out and then we can capitalize the next three days.
NCAAB:
Parlay
Kansas State ML / Auburn ML (-119) - Nothing like some day action and we have two favorable matchups in College Hoops today. We could tease these two for -110 odds or we could just take them to win straight up at -119 odds. It’s March so let’s play it safe and go with the moneyline parlay on this one. Kansas State will take on TCU who they have already beat twice this season by 8 and 10. Kansas State will get guard Cartier Diarra back but they will be without First Team All Big 12 Forward Dean Wade. Wade had 9 points and 6 boards in the most recent game between KSU and TCU. I’m confident that KSU gets it done for us today as the #15 team in the country and TCU is 2-6 against Top 25 ranked teams this season. Next up we have Auburn who was the #11 ranked team coming into the season and they also made their way up to #8 at one point this season. Auburn fell off after four straight losses to Top 25 teams but they got a much needed boost at the right time last weekend when they beat #5 Tennessee. Auburn will be in the tourney no matter what but does the hunger of Missouri make up for the 34 point loss they had against Auburn earlier this season? I don’t think so. Mizz is 0-5 against Top 25 teams this season losing by an average of 13 points per game. This one seems like a GREAT way to start off our day and roll into the weekend.
NHL:
Penguins (-180) - Pricey moneyline but that’s based on how terrible the Sabres have been and how the Penguins are heating up. Sabres have lost 5 in a row and are 2-11 in their last 13. Now I know what all of you Sabres fans will say and actually know this but yes, the Sabres have beat the Penguins twice this season and one of those wins came as recent as two weeks ago. The Sabres have lost 5 games straight since then while the Penguins have won 5 of 6 since then while beating playoff bound teams during that stretch. I’ll look for the Penguins to outplay the Sabres tonight, stay hot, and get us this win.
Capitals (-130) - The Capitals are 2-0 against the Flyers and have beat them 5-3 in each of those two games. Both of these teams are hot right now and you may shy away from this one but I’m here to tell you why you shouldn’t. The Capitals dominated each one of these games and the Flyers made them look closer than they really were by scoring meaningless goals in the 3rd periods. The Caps got up 4-1 in the first game and 5-0 in the second game. That is the sign of a team who clearly has the upper hand in a head to head matchup and I’ll take the Caps again tonight at a good price on the moneyline. Let’s go Caps!
Bruins / Jets Over (6) - JACKHAMMER - These two meet up tonight and there should be plenty of scoring! The Bruins have gone over or pushed at 6 in 4 of their last 5 games and the same can be said for the Jets who have gone OVER 6 in 4 of their last 5 games. Some of the total goals scored in these recent games have been ridiculous with 11, 9, & 9. There were 20 total goals scored combined in the Bruins and Jets most recent games (Bruins 7-4 vs Blue Jackets and Jets 5-4 against Sharks). There were 7 total goals scored in the last head to head matchup between the Bruins and Jets on 1/29. I love the over in this one tonight and I will be absolutely jackhammering this one!

NBA:
“Cheapie” but VALUEable parlay:
Celtics ML / Raptors ML / Jazz ML (-102) - That’s even money for three teams who are favored by 7 or more points tonight. The Celtics return home from a West Coast road trip and will host the Kings who are coming off of a loss to the Wizards and who the Celts beat in Sacramento last week. Celts were looking good until that let down game against the Clippers but the last game of a road trip like that seems to be a trap/let down game more times that not. Raptors have lost 4 of their last 5 and are coming off of a loss to the Cavs which shocked the world and busted a lot of parlays. I’ll still take them to win straight up tonight against a Lakers team who is just 3-9 in their last 12 games. They are a much better team and they are due for a turn around game to get things right before the playoffs. To close it out, we have the Jazz hosting the TWolves who are 0-6 in their last 6 road games and who the Jazz hold the season series edge over 2-1. I know a lot of you don’t agree with the big favorite parlays in the NBA but that’s ok, you can pass on it if you want. I will be playing this one at just under even money tonight.
