3/30 VIP Picks

2-2 last night but we are going to need to do better than that today. We have a full slate of MLB games and of course, the Elite Eight tonight. If we hit our first play of the day, I may add another play for later on either NHL/NBA or the late NCAAB game. We have 5 picks for now so let’s have ourselves a fucking day!

1:05 EST

Orioles / Yankees Over (8.5) - Nate Karns and James Paxton must start for this bet to have action. Nate Karns didn’t pitch in the big leagues at all last season but he was touched up in a few starts back in 2017 - he allowed 4 earned runs in less than an inning against the Twins on Apr 5 which was his first start of the season. Seeing this Yankees lineup in action on Thursday was scary, they basically had a scoring opportunity every single inning. I think they will make a push at covering the over themselves for us this afternoon against a guy who hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since 2017. James Paxton will make his first start for the Yankees and although they are hyping him up to be a shut down guy, I think the Orioles will be able to score some runs off of him today. Five Orioles have faced him before and they are hitting .286 combined in a small sample size. THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YANKEEEEEEEEEESSSSS GO OVER!

8:05 EST

Cubs (Darvish) (-150) - The Cubs offense looked great on Opening Day putting up 12 runs scoring in the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th innings. They will come into tonight’s matchup against the Rangers and Edison Volquez looking to swing the bats against as they come in with a .283 average in 57 career at bats against him. Yu Darvish will go for the Cubs and only 4 Rangers have seen him before. Darvish dealt with an injury last year that cut his season short but the Cubs are expecting him to bounce back in a big way. I’m confident that the Cubs lineup will give Mr. Darvish the run support he needs in Arlington tonight.

9:05 EST

Red Sox (Rodriguez) (-160) - JACKHAMMER - The Sox came alive late last night and Mitch Moreland hit the go ahead 3 run homerun in the 9th inning. It was a reminder that this Sox lineup which is still in tact from last season is never out of a ball game. That was a good bounce back from their Opening Day performance. Tonight, the Sox lineup gets to face Mike Leake who they have had some serious success against in the past. They come in with a .299 avg in 117 career at bats against him and four guys in the lineup have taken him deep before. Leake went 1-1 against the Sox last year but he gave up 5 earned runs in 6 innings in his loss. Eduardo Rodriguez has held this Mariners lineup to a .234 avg in 64 at bats. The Mariners lineup has looked good to start the season but I think they will struggle against Eddie tonight who they have struggled against in the past.

9:10 EST

Diamondbacks (Godley) (+160) - Our first underdog of the season and this one is juicy. Kenta Maeda only made one start against the DBacks last season and he gave up 5 runs in 2.2 innings pitched. The DBacks lineup comes in with a .365 avg and .635 slg% in 74 at bats so they have had more success than just that one game last season. Zack Godley gets the start for the DBacks and he has held this Dodgers lineup to a .243 avg in 103 at bats. I like the DBacks to get to Maeda early in this one and they should get us our first underdog win of the 2019 MLB season at +160!

6:09 EST

Texas Tech / Gonzaga Over (138) - Both of these teams have shown that they are capable of playing good defense but I think there will be some points scored in this one tonight. Gonzaga has gone over 138 3 times this season when playing a Top 25 ranked team (Duke 176 total points, Ten 148 total points, and North Carolina 193 total points. Texas Tech has gone over in 138 in Top 25 matchups against Kansas this year 142 and 153 total points. We basically need 70 points a side in this one and Texas Tech has scored 70+ in 10 of their last 11 games while the Zags have scored 70+ in 17 of their last 20. I like the over in this game tonight.
