Well things did not go our way yesterday. Yanks over misses by half a run and that game ended with a guy on third, Cubs give up 5 runs in the 7th & 8th to blow their lead, Sox lose 6-5, and our underdog started good with a lead off homerun but proceeded to lose 18-5. TOUGH luck yesterday. Today is a crucial day to close out the week on a high note.

MLB:

1:05 EST

Yankees (Happ) (-1.5) - I can’t believe the Yanks lost to the Orioles yesterday. They should bounce back in a big way today when they take on Dylan Buddy who was 8-16 last year with a 5.45 earned run average. He had 14 starts last year where he allowed 4 or more earned runs. The Yankees lineup should clobber him today. JA Happ will take the ball for the Yankees and he has held this O’s lineup to a .200 avg in 90 at bats with 33 strikeouts. Yanks win this one BIG.

1:35 EST

Mets / Nats Over (7) (Wheeler/Corbin) -These two teams only scored 2 runs in the first game of the series but they came back swinging yesterday scoring 19 total runs in a game where both Syndergaard and Strasburg gave up 4. I’m a little surprised the over is only 7 in this game with the success each lineup has had against the opposing starting pitcher. The Nats come in hitting .340 in 97 career at bats against Mets starter Zach Wheeler and the Mets are hitting .294 with a .765 slg% in 51 at bats against Corbin. It’s raining in Washington DC this morning but the rain will be out and there will be sunny skies by game time. I like the over.

7:00 EST

Phillies (Arrieta) (-155) - Jake Arrieta didn’t have a good year last year finishing the season 10-11. However, in his only start against the Braves in Philly last year, he went 6.2 scoreless innings and got the win. He’s held this Braves lineup to a .250 avg in 92 at bats. The Braves will have Kyle Wright making his first ever MLB start. Big stage to make your first start on Sunday Night Baseball against a lineup who is averaging 9 runs a game through the first two of the series. I like the Phillies tonight!

NHL:

5:00 EST

Hurricanes / Penguins Under (6) - These two teams will battle tonight with the playoffs on the line and this game will very much feel like a playoff game for both teams. They have played each other 3 times this season and the Hurricanes have the series edge 2-1 but more importantly, all three matchups have gone under 6. 3-0, 4-0, & 3-2 were the scores for the first 3 games. On top of that, both of these teams have been playing lower scoring games as of late with 8 of their last 10 combined games going under or pushing at 6. I like the under in this matchup tonight.

NCAAB:

5:05 EST

Michigan State (+125) - The one you’ve all been waiting for. I said it after Friday nights games and I’ll say it again. Michigan State is going to beat Duke tonight. Duke has now escaped two games in a row where their opponent had the ball on the rim at the buzzer to win or tie. No disrespect to UCF or Virginia Tech but they aren’t on the same level as this Michigan State team. The Spartans are 11-1 against Top 25 teams this year and they haven’t “snuck by” teams in the tourney like Duke has. Michigan State has won by double digits in each tourney game - 11, 20, and 17. The most impressive was by 17 against a good LSU team on Friday Night. Duke has “snuck by” UCF and Virginia Tech but also don’t forget they struggled in the first half against 16 seed North Dakota State. I think Michigan State takes control of this game early and never looks back. Tear your brackets up, Duke is going down tonight.
