4/12 VIP Picks

Well a day of up and down emotions. Tiger bogeys 17 to lose, Dustin wins for us, A’s win for us, Dodgers get a lead, blow a lead, get a lead, really blow a lead, Capitals win, Bruins take a lead early then get outplayed. 3-3 day is never fun for the emotions. Let’s see what we have for a BIG Friday!

Round 2 Matchup:

11:00 EST

Brooks Koepka (-0.5) over Paul Casey - JACKHAMMER - So we can get a guy who shot -6 at -0.5 over a guy who shot +9 yesterday? YES PLEASE! Hard to imagine Casey can be worse than he was yesterday but he has posted a higher score in round 2 in the last 3 years and has shot a 75+ in round 2 in 4 of the last 5 years. Koepka comes in tied for the lead and I’m expecting him to post another score in the 60s today. This is great value.

1:05 EST

Adam Scott over Hideki Matsuyama (-125) - Scott beat Matsuyama by 6 strokes yesterday. Scott has posted a better score in round 2 following round 1 in the last 4 years. Matsuyama has had a few Masters where he turns it around in round 2 but it’s hard not to after the round 1s he had posting 76 and 80 to follow those up with 70 and 71. I’ll take Scott in today’s matchup based on his past success at this course with 6 Top 10 finishes here.

1:45 EST

Tiger Woods (-0.5) over Haotong Li - Li is playing in his second Masters and he has now shot even par in 4 of his 5 rounds. He also had a tough second round last year posting a 76. Tiger beat Li by 2 strokes yesterday but Tiger also missed a lot of opportunities and he easily could have beat Li by 5 or 6 strokes. Let’s bank on Tiger playing even better today and Li’s history here doesn’t make me think he can match Tiger today.

Cross sport parlay:

7:00 EST

Red Sox (ERod) ML / Lightning ML (-114) - Two huge moneylines here but parlaying then together gives us just under even money. The Sox got a walk off win last night and I think that’s exactly what they needed to get a little confidence boost after such a slow start. Think of it this way, they are 1-1 on the East Coast. Tonight they take on the Orioles who have allowed their opponents to score 10 or more runs in 3 of their last 5 games. David Hess gets the start for the Os and the Red Sox come in with a .333 avg & .879 slg% in 33 at bats against him. He had two starts against the Sox last year and it was pound town each time - 4.2 innings pitched, 5 earned runs, & 3 homeruns and 3.1 innings pitched, 5 earned runs, & 2 homeruns. Eduardo Rodriguez will start for the Sox and he had a 1.34 earned run average against the Orioles last season. Then we have the Lightning, the best team in hockey who had a 3-0 lead after the first period the other night and lost. They have had a few games this year when they let their guard down after getting a big lead. Tonight is a HUGE game for them to bounce back and even up the series at home before they go on the road for games 3 & 4. Look for them to come out like they did in Game 1 but they will keep the pedal to the fucking medal in this one. Don’t forget Tampa dominated them in two head to head matchups in the regular season 8-2 and 4-0. Let’s go Bolts!

7:20 EST

Make sure Newcomb is starting before you lock this in.

Braves (Newcomb) (-105) - The Braves will be up against Mets starter Zack Wheeler who allowed 7 earned runs in 4.2 innings against the Nats in his last outing. The Braves have also had success against him in the past and they come in with a .344 avg & .594 slg% in 64 at bats. Sean Newcomb has held the Mets lineup to a .154 avg in 39 at bats. Look for the Braves to get to Wheeler and Newcomb to give us a quality start.

7:10 EST

Phillies (Arrieta) (-160) - Bet against the Marlins. The Marlins have lost 4 games in a row and they have only scored 1 run in their last 3 games. The Phillies had a tough series against the Nats losing 2 out of 3 and allowing 25 runs in their last 2 games but they should get back on track against a lesser Marlins team. Arrieta has held this Marlins lineup to a .248 avg in 113 at bats. Go Phillies!

Jets (-125) - did I wait for the hammer to eat before I posted this one? Of course! I do love the Jets at home tonight in a game that is more than huge for them. They had a lead into the 3rd in Game 1 on Wednesday night before allowing the Blues to score 2 goals and steal Game 1. The Jets went 3-1 against the Blues in the regular season and I think they are the better team despite their mediocre play at best to end the regular season. Call me crazy but I think the Blues very well may be satisfied taking a 1 & 1 split in Winnipeg. The Jets and their fans will be amped for this one and they can’t lose this game tonight. Neither can we, LFG! How good does -125 look for this game tonight? Ummm.....you saw the pic of that Jets fan up top right?
