6/11 VIP Picks

What’s a Monday without a couple late inning gags in MLB with the Sox and Cubbies. Atleast we got the win in NBA with the Warriors pulling it out on the road. Monday’s continue to be slow for us but the week can only go up from here. I’m not too worried about making up the 1 unit that we lost last night from now until Sunday. Let’s see what we have on the menu tonight to get this week going.

7:20 EST

Pirates (Archer) (+130) - Great value in the underdog Pirates tonight. They come in hitting .292 in 48 at bats against Braves start Mike Foltynewicz and just beat him 6-1 five days ago. Foltynewicz had a late start to the season due to an injury and it might be lingering because the Braves have lost 7 of the 8 games he has started this season. Folty has allowed 5 homeruns in his last 11 innings pitched. Chris Archer will pitch for the Pirates and on top of the 1 run he allowed over 6 innings against the Braves just five days ago, he has held this lineup to a .170 avg in 141 career at bats. I like the Pirates at +130 tonight.

8:10 EST

Twins/Mariners Over (9.5) - Mike Leake will start for the Mariners tonight and he is coming off of a complete game against the Astros but I don’t expect him to last that long tonight. This Twins lineup has hit him hard in the past and they come in with a .368 avg in 68 career at bats against him. The Mariners have had success against Martin Perez in the past and they come in hitting just under .300 in 92 at bats. Perez has had two very rough starts in a row allowing 11 runs over his last 7 innings pitched. The Mariners have gone over 9.5 in 4 of their last 5 games and the Twins have gone over 9.5 in 3 of their last 5 games with total scores of 9 in the games they didn’t go over 9.5. This one has over written all over it.

10:07 EST

Dodgers (Maeda) (-160) - When you put this bet in pick “selected” for the pitching matchup so Kenta Maeda needs to start. The Angels will most likely use an opener and then bring in Pena. Pena has followed an opener in 7 of his last 8 starts. There is no real head to head history for these lineups against the opposing starting pitchers but it’s looking like a good matchup for the Dodgers tonight. They will be up against Felix Pena who is coming off of an outing where he allowed 7 runs on 8 hits over 1.2 innings. That was against the Oakland A’s who do not have the same pop in their lineup as the Dodgers. Kenta Maeda will start for the Dodgers and he has allowed 3 runs or less in 5 of his last 6 starts. He comes in 7-2 on the season with a 3.48 earned run average. I like the Dodgers to bounce back tonight.
