5-0 clean sweep yesterday and we move to 18-2 in October! I am having the time of my life right now and we are absolutely on FIRE! Let’s look back to the post from October 1st:
It’s been a great start but we have a lot more work to do. Let’s stay hot today! 🔥Enjoy your Sunday! KOOOOOOFSPORTS!
Bears (-6) - The one constant for the Bears has been their dominant defense and that’s what we are banking on with them today. They haven’t allowed any of their opponents to score more than 2 touchdowns. They are currently ranked #2 in the league in points allowed at 11.2 points per game. The Raiders come in 2-2 but we haven’t seen anything from them that makes us think they can score more than 2 touchdowns against this Bears defense. The defense will be led by Khalil Mack who will have a little extra motivation in this game playing against his former team that traded him away just over a year ago. Chase Daniel will start at QB for the Bears with starter Mitch Trubisky our due to a shoulder injury. Don’t expect Daniel to light it up but he should be able to manage this game and put up enough points to cover the -6. COMMON OPPONENT ALERT - the Bears beat the Vikings by 10 last week and that same Vikings team beat the Raiders by 20 two weeks ago. This game is being played in London and the Raiders are 0-2 in their recent London games including a 27-3 loss last year to the Seahawks. Give me DA BEARS!
Patriots Over (28.5) - The Patriots offense struggled on the road last week but that was against a Buffalo Bills defense that is a lot better than people think. The Redskins defense they will be playing today has allowed their opponents to score double the points that the Bills defense has. The Skins come in with the second worst ranked defense in the league right in front of the Dolphins who have the worst. The Skins have allowed 3 of their 4 opponents to score 28+ this season. The Pats have scored 30+ in 3 of their 4 games and dropped 43 on the Dolphins in Week 2. I’m expecting this Pats offense to put together an impressive performance today.
Ravens (-3.5) - The Ravens are coming off of a bad 15 point loss to the Browns last week but don’t forget they played a tight one possession game against the Chiefs the week before that. The Steelers are coming off of their first win of the season but it was against the Bengals. Anytime the head coach for a team comes out and admits his team is in a fragile state like Mike Tomlin did this week, you bet against them. The Steelers defense looked good against the Bengals but I still think they are vulnerable to the pass after seeing the numbers Jimmy G, Russell Wilson, & Tom Brady put up against them. Lamar Jackson comes in ranked 5th in passer rating and I think he will have himself a game against this Steelers defense. The Steelers ran the ball 25 times last week to take the pressure off of young QB Mason Rudolph. They can try that again today but it will be tough getting the ground game going against this Ravens defense who is ranked #9 against the run. The Ravens beat the Steelers by two scores on the road at Heinz Field last year and I think they matchup well to cover the -3.5 today.
Ezekiel Elliot Total Rushing Yards Over (92.5) - The Packers run defense has been an issue for them this season and they have allowed their opponents to average 142.2 yards per game. They allowed the Eagles to run for 176 in their last game. They will have a tough time slowing down one of the best backs in the league today. Give me the over on Zeke’s rushing yard player prop.
Play in groups of 2 for the most profitable outcome.
Survivor Pool Pick
Braves (Soroka) (-120) - The Braves will take on Adam Wainwright today and they should be confident for this matchup. They scored 5 earned runs in 4 innings en route to a 10-2 victory the last time they faced him on May 16th. Wainwright also had a rough ending to the season allowing 5 earned runs in 5 innings to the DBacks and 6 earned runs in 4.1 innings to the Cubs. Not the way you want to “tune up” for the playoffs. Mike Soroka will start for the Braves and he went 7 scoreless innings against this Cardinals lineup back on May 15th. He went 13-4 this season with a 2.68 ERA and I expect him to put together a quality performance for us. Braves should give him the run support he needs today. #ChopOn
Dodgers (Ryu) (-110) - It sounds like the Nats will be starting Max Scherzer in this game tonight even though he pitched an inning of relief on Friday night after pitching in the Wild Card game last Tuesday. Scherzer has been touched up a bit in his last three starts allowing 3, 4, & 5 earned runs. I think the Dodgers will come in with an aggressive approach and try to get to him early. Hyun Jin Ryu will pitch for the Dodgers and he has held this Nats lineup to a .215 avg in 130 career at bats. Ryu allowed just 1 run in 14.2 innings pitched against the Nats this season. I’d place the bet early because if Scherzer doesn’t start for some reason, the Dodgers moneyline will move. Let me be clear, I like the Dodgers no matter who starts for the Nats tonight. Ryu has been absolutely dominant against this Nats lineup.
