10/7 VIP Picks
Not a great day yesterday especially with what we have been accustomed to but baseball stays hot for us and we have plenty of baseball action today. Add another 1/2 point loss to the list after the Ravens were only able to win by 3 yesterday. 9-2 in MLB Playoffs and we are playing all of the games today! LFG!
MLB:
1:05 EST
Astros (Greinke) (-142) - Zack Greinke will be the third Ace out of the deck for the Astros today when he makes the start and the first two Aces have been great, pitching 14.2 innings without allowing a run. Greinke has good numbers against this Rays lineup in the past and has held them to a .209 avg in 67 at bats. Charlie Morton will start for the Rays and his former team has hit him hard this season. The Stros come in with a .324 avg in 71 at bats against him and they put up a 6 spot in 4 innings against him back on Aug 27th. I think the Astros will get to Morton again today and Greinke should dominate. Astros close this series out and move on to the ALCS. 🧹
3:07 EST
Braves (Keuchel) (+116) - This line seems like a bluff by the oddsmakers and I’ll have none of that. Dallas Keuchel pitched Game 1 of this series and the Cardinals only scored 1 run through the first 7 innings before the bullpen gave up 6 runs in the final 2 innings. Keuchel went 4.2 innings and only allowed 1 run. The Braves have all of the momentum after their 9th inning rally yesterday. The Braves lineup will face Dakota Hudson who they don’t have much history against but they come in with a .350 avg against him in 20 at bats. The Braves lost to Hudson earlier this season but they only went 3-9 with runners in scoring position in that game. I think the Braves will ride their momentum and close this series out today.
6:40 EST
Dodgers / Nationals Over (8) - These teams combined for 14 runs last night even though the Dodgers put together a 7 run inning. Max Scherzer will start for the Nats as they try to survive but like we talked about before, he has been touched up early in his last two starts allowing 3 runs in the first 2 innings in the Wild Card game and 3 runs in the first inning in his final start of the regular season. Look for a hot Dodgers lineup to come out aggressive early. Don’t forget Scherzer is backed by the worst bullpen in baseball who had a 5.66 ERA in the regular season. Rich Hill will start for the Dodgers and I expect the Nats to be aggressive against him as well. They come in with a .333 avg & .650 slg% in 60 at bats against him. Hill will likely be on a pitch count but the Nats should get a few runs early. 4 a side seems likely with these two matchups. Give me the over.
8:40 EST
Yankees (Severino) (-150) - Here comes the second American League sweep of the day when the Yankees take on the Twins. The Yanks lineup doesn’t have eye popping numbers against Jake Odorizzi long term but the game on July 24th sticks out. The Yankees scored 9 earned runs in 4 innings against Odorizzi in a 10-7 win. The Bronx Bombers have 7 guys in the lineup who have hit a homerun against Odorizzi in their career. Luis Severino will pitch for the Yanks and don’t expect him to go more than 4 or 5 innings because this is just his 4th start of the season due to injury. He should put together a good start though because he has held this Twins lineup to a .222 avg in 63 at bats. The Yanks have outscored the Twins 18-6 in the first two games of this series. The Yankee bats should get Severino a lead and the bullpen should be able to finish the job. 🧹

Teaser:
Browns (+11) / Under (53.5) - The public is all over the over in this one but 2 of the last 3 games have gone under for both of these teams. The Browns are coming off of an impressive win against the Ravens and they only lost by one touchdown to the Rams the week before that. The Niners are coming off of their bye week and come into this one undefeated but they haven’t beat a team with a winning record yet this season, say what it is. I like what both defenses have done this season and they come in allowing 22.8 points per game and 18 points per game. With 70% of the public money on the over in this one, I think the under hits and the Browns at +11 seems safe because I don’t expect this game to be a blowout. If you aren’t sure what a teaser bet is, just DM me and I can explain it.
NHL:
7:00 EST
Sabres (-105) - The Sabres have looked good during their 2-0 start to the season with wins over the Penguins and Devils. The Blue Jackets have started 0-2 and are coming off of a bad 7-2 loss to the same Penguins team who the Sabres already beat. I know the preseason doesn’t mean shit but looking back at each teams’ last 5 games, the Blue Jackets have lost their last 5 and the Sabres have won their last 5. Sabres at even money seems like stealing money. We go for a 7-0 start to the NHL season with this one.
