10/12 VIP Picks

2-2 last night due to the unbelievable performance by Anibal Sanchez holding the Cardinals hitless through 7 & 2/3 innings. The Nats should have covered the over themselves for us but they went 2-12 with runners in scoring position. We can blame the weather in Miami in what turned out to be an ugly game. Nats & Hurricanes won for us but those two plays had juice on them. I have to say, I’m feeling really good about the matchups we have today. LET’S. FUCKING. GO.

Straight plays:

3:30 EST

Wisconsin (-10) - #8 Wisconsin will host Michigan State who lost by 24 to #4 Ohio State last week. Wisconsin has rolled and they passed the only real test they have had this season by beating #11 Michigan by 21. Michigan State has struggled to score against good defenses this season and they were only able to score 7 against Arizona State and 10 against Ohio State. Wisconsin comes in with the #1 ranked defense and they are only allowing 5.8 points per game. Michigan State should struggle to score. Wisconsin hasn’t played great defenses but they are averaging 43.4 points per game. Most of the focus and hype has been on RB Jonathan Taylor (and for good reason) but the play of QB Jack Coan isn’t getting the recognition that it deserves. He’s completed just under 75% of his passes and has 7 touchdowns to just 1 interception. I’m confident that Wisconsin will take care of business today at home. Go Badgers!

7:30 EST

Penn State (-3) - Let’s buy the half a point to get this one at -3. Penn State has rolled this season but they haven’t played a Top 25 team. Iowa has been tested this season and they just lost to a Top 25 team last week. Both of these defenses have been great this season holding opponents to 7.4 and 8.8 points per game. Penn Stare has run up 47 points per game on offense and Iowa has averaged 27.4 points per game. I don’t think Iowa has the fire power to keep up with Penn State and that showed when they were held to just 3 points last week against Michigan. Penn State has more offensive playmakers and I think that will be the difference in this game. Don’t expect Penn State to come anywhere close to their 47 points per game average tonight but they should put themselves in a good position to cover the -3 for us.

8:00 EST

Florida (+14) - JACKHAMMER - What the fuck? That’s exactly what went through my head when I saw this line for the first time. All of the hype is on LSU for this game and +14 seems like a fucking gift. LSU comes in ranked #5 and has averaged 52 points per game which leads College Football but they have done it against the #107, #57, #112, #79, & an unranked defense. I’m not impressed. This LSU offense is in for a rude awakening tonight when they go head to head with the #8 ranked defense in the country. Florida has had some easy matchups too but last weeks 24-13 win over #7 Auburn shows that they are for real and they are 16-3 since Dan Mullen took over as coach at the beginning of last season. Florida has been successful running the ball against LSU the last two seasons and I think they will look to establish the run early tonight to control this game. The books have the public exactly where they want them with 55% of the public money on LSU to cover this enormous spread spread. Don’t forget that LSU was #5 when these two teams met up a year ago and Florida won that game 27-19. The Gators were trailing 19-14 in the 4th before scoring 2 touchdowns in the final 9 minutes. With this line, most people will be shocked if the Gators win this game outright, but I won’t be. That’s +420 on the moneyline but I’ll take the 14-0 lead to start this game and I’m taking Florida with the points. Go Gata 🐊

Teaser selections:

Play in groups of 2 to be most profitable.

Memphis / Temple Over (43.5)

Alabama (-11)

Oklahoma (-4)

Wake Forest (-1)

4:00 EST

Lightning (-1.5) - Even money for this pick line and that’s great value for this matchup the Lightning have with the Senators in a late afternoon matchup today. The Senators are 0-3 on the season and they have allowed an average of 5 goals per game. They have also lost all three games by 2 or more goals. Tampa started 1-0 but then lost two tough games in a row before bouncing back with a BIG 7-3 win against the Maple Leafs on Thursday. They have had a day off to rest and I think they will build off of that win on Thursday against a very bad opponent in Ottawa.

7:00 EST

Hurricanes (-200) - They got it done for us last night and I think they will again tonight. Another big moneyline for them but for good reason. They are 5-0 on the season and they have beat some good teams early. They are averaging 4.20 goals per game and 38 shots on net per game. GET THE PUCK ON NET and good things happen. They will host the 1-3 Blue Jackets who lost to the Ducks last night and had to travel. The Blue Jackets have only been able to average 2 goals per game and I don’t see them keeping up with the Hurricanes tonight.

Nationals (Scherzer) (-140) - The Cardinals were no hit through 7 and 2/3 innings by Anibal Sanchez last night and they will likely struggle at the plate again today against Max Scherzer. I’ll point out that Scherzer is 0-2 against the Cardinals this season but he has held this Cardinals lineup to a .234 avg in 201 at bats. Let’s lean on the larger sample size for this one. The Nats will face Adam Wainwright who they come in with a .294 avg against in 160 at bats. The Nats should have won 10-0 last night. They went 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left 13 guys on base. I like the Nats bats to come up with a few more timely hits today and take a 2-0 series lead on the road.

8:08 EST

Astros (Greinke) (-155) - Zack Greinke got pounded by the Rays on Monday but he still comes in 18-5 on the season. He has also only allowed 3 earned runs and racked up 14 strikeouts in 12.1 innings against this high powered Yankees lineup. Greinke has held this Yanks lineup to a .243 avg in 140 career at bats. The Astros will face Masahiro Tanaka who has been hit or miss all season for the Yankees and comes in 11-9 on the season. The Astros have had success against him in the past and come in with a .293 avg in 150 at bats against him. Another nice stat for the Stros is that Altuve, Springer, Correa, & Reddick have all taken Tanaka deep, twice. 6 of the 9 guys in the lineup have taken Tanaka deep at least once. I like the Astros to take Game 1 tonight.

Wisconsin (-10)

Penn State (-3.5)

Florida ML (+420)

Nationals (-140)

Astros (-155)

Lightning (-1.5)

Hurricanes (-200)

159 to 1 odds on this one!!
