11/21 VIP Picks

1-2 on the night last night thanks to the Caps and Rockets going down. We are still up on the week and it’s already Thursday. I’ll take that after the spot we were in last Thursday before that 17-6 finish to the week. I’d also like to welcome the 25-30 new members who got their free week trial from the retweet last night! Let’s get right into the picks for tonight!! NHL: 7:00 EST Bruins (-1.5) - We took the Bruins on Tuesday night and expected them to “snap out of their funk,” they did just that when they put together a 5-1 dominant win over the Devils. The Sabres come to town tonight and they have been struggling as of late losing 8 of their last 9 games. Their one win in that stretch came against a bad Senators team. Here’s a nice looking stat for you guys, the Bruins have 13 wins on the season, they have gone 10-3 against the puck line -1.5 in those wins. So when they win, they cover the puck line 77% of the time this season. I think they will win tonight and I think they will cover the puck line against this struggling Sabres team. This one is paying plus money as of now but the odds will likely shift as we get closer to game time. #GetItInEarly

8:00 EST

Avalanche (-105) - The Avs started their season by winning 7 of their first 8 games before going on to lose 6 of their next 7. Since then, they have won 5 of their last 6 and the turning point was when they scored 9 goals against the Predators. The Wild have lost 2 of their last 4 and they are just 8-11-2 on the season compared to the Avalanche 13-6-2 record. The Avs already beat the Wild 4-2 on Oct 5. The Avs also have a winning record on the road this season. Let’s roll with the Avs to stay hot!

10:30 EST

Oilers (-125) - The Oilers are another team that started the season hit but then had a rough stretch before bouncing back and they have looked better as of late. Their last four wins have come by 3 goals or more. They will take on a bad 8-12-1 Kings team who they already beat in the first game of the season. I like the Oilers at good value tonight! CFB: NC State / Georgia Tech Over (46) - It’s tough to pick a winner in this one with both teams losing 4 of their last 5 games so 55% of the public are taking the under in this game and they are banking on the fact that both of these offenses have struggled. I’d like to focus more on how bad both of these defenses have been. NC State has allowed an average of 44.5 points per game over their last four games. If that average held true tonight, they would only have to kick a field goal for this one to go over. Georgia Tech has allowed an average of 32 points per game over their last five. The defensive averages on the season are 29.2 and 31.1 points per game. Now, obviously these teams have played better offenses to drive those averages up a bit but I still think both of these offenses will be able to score some points tonight. We need both teams to be in the mid 20 range and I’m confident they can get there for us. NFL: 8:20 EST Teaser: Colts (+9.5) / Over (40) - All of the public money is pouring in on the Texans in this game and I’m a bit surprised by that since they are coming off of an absolute beatdown four days ago when the Ravens laid it on them 41-7. The Colts snapped their 2 game losing streak with a healthy Jacoby Brissett back but the running game was the main focus with them racking up 264 rushing yards against the Jaguars. Look for the Colts to look to establish the run tonight since the Texans gave up 256 rushing yards to the Ravens Sunday even though 79 of those yards were to Lamar. The Colts also won the first matchup of the season 30-23 back on Oct 20. Another common mindset that most of the people taking the Texans are probably thinking is that it’s tough to beat a team twice in the same season in the NFL. That’s true and over the last 10 seasons, these two teams have split the series 50% of the time. However, 14 of those 20 games (70%) were decided by one touchdown or less. Hence why I like the Colts at +9.5 tonight. Then we have over 40 which doesn’t seem too difficult for these two teams who went over 40 in their first matchup and 7 of their last 10 combined games have gone over 40. On top of that, both regular season meetings went over 40 last season with total scores of 71 and 45. Both teams averages point to over 40 in this game as well with the offenses scoring 22.7 and 24.5 points per game and the defenses allowing 20.6 and 23.2 points per game.
