12/4 VIP Picks

I’ll take the easy way out this morning and say we went 1-0 last night with the jackhammer under review. If you missed all of the controversy, James Harden dunked but the refs said it didn’t count until after the game when they admitted the wrong call was made. The Rockets went on to blow an 18 point lead and lose (for now) in double overtime. There are a few different things that could happen here:

1. The league says fuck you and the loss stands as is.

2. The league determines the wrong call was made and they award the 2 pt basket then pickup play at that point and have these two teamsvreplay the final 7:50.

3. The league determines the basket was good and award the Rockets a 117-115 victory in regulation.

Most likely is option 1 which proves that the league is a higher power and even when they are wrong they still can manipulate results however they want. If one of the other two options are selected it will most likely be option 2. In this case our parlay would revert down to a moneyline play on the Mavericks which we would win. The reason for that is because the conclusion wouldn’t be played until the next time these two teams face each other which is actually  in a couple weeks.

Regardless of what happens, the Rockets never should have blown an 18 point 4th quarter lead and 8 point lead with 1 minute.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed the league does something about it.

NHL: 8:00 EST Blues (-105) - The Blues are actually underdogs in this game even though they just beat the Penguins 5-2 last Saturday. The Blues have won 4 games in a row and they have been good value in all of those games. Here we go again tonight where they are minor underdogs yet still just under even money. Jordan Binnington is the confirmed starter in net for the Blues and he is 11-4 in his last 15 starts. The Penguins have lost their last two games and were outscored 5-2 in each of those losses. Let’s take our chances on a hot Blues team, especially at just about even money. Go Blues! NBA: 7:30 EST Heat / Celtics Over (209) - The last 5 Heat games have gone over 209 and the last 3 Celtic games have gone over 209. That makes it 8 combined games in a row that have gone over 209! Both of these teams have shown the ability to fill it up this season and come in averaging 111.9 points per game (Heat) and 110.7 points per game (Celtics). I think we will see some exciting offense from both of these teams tonight and this game should go over 209. 9:00 EST Lakers (+2.5) - If you’re giving me the 2.5 points here, I’m going to take them. I wanted to take the Lakers last night but felt it was a toss up against a good Nuggets team. They will face a good Jazz team tonight on the second night of a back to back but the Jazz have lost 4 of their last 5 PLUS the Lakers already beat them by 9 earlier this season 95-86. There is talk that Anthony Davis is questionable tonight with an illness that required him to take extra fluids after last night’s win in Denver buttttttt he dropped 25 last night so how sick can he be? The Jazz have 2 games in their last 5 where they lost by 19 and 20. The Lakers are 2-0 on the second night of back to backs this season and I like them to make it 3-0 tonight.
