12/16 VIP Picks

Teasers and the moneyline parlay was good for yesterday but the straight plays were a joke. Seahawks, 30-10 with 7 minutes left and somehow someway they allow the Panthers to come back and push the 6. Browns and Rams were two of the most embarrassing picks I have ever posted. On to a new week and College Football Bowl season will be kicking off this week. Let’s see what we have to get this week started off right, I’m looking for some high percentage plays to get a hot streak going for us. NHL: 7:00 EST Capitals (-165) - The Capitals and Blue Jackets just played last Monday night and the Blue Jackets won 5-2. The funny thing about that was that was the only game the Capitals have lost in their last 9 games and that’s the only game the Blue Jackets have won in their last 6. The Capitals bounced right back from that loss last Monday with wins over two good opponents beating the Bruins 3-2 and the Lightning 5-2. I’d expect them to be looking for some revenge on the Blue Jackets tonight who followed up their win last Monday with consecutive losses to the Penguins and Senators. The Capitals are averaging more than a goal more per game than the Blue Jackets this season. Cross Sport Parlay: 8:00 EST Heat ML / Saints ML (-117) - Just under even money for these two favorites tonight. The Heat have been playing great and they are coming off two impressive games against the Lakers where they had a shot at the buzzer but lost by 3 and then they beat a good Mavericks team in overtime. Going on the road to take on the Grizzlies won’t pose as much of a challenge as the Heat have faced in their last two games. The Grizzlies come in 9-17 compared to the Heat coming in at 19-7. The Grizzlies have struggled defensively this season allowing 116.2 points per game and that was an issue for them the first time they played the Heat this season when the Heat ran away with a 120-101 win. Then we have the Saints to win straight up which I’m a lot more confident in that than to win by 9.5 after some of their recent games. They have still won 3 of their last 5 but only 1 of those wins was a convincing win. Even with some shaky performances lately for the Saints, I don’t expect the Colts to go into New Orleans and get a win tonight. The Colts were 5-2 at one point this season but they fell on their face and have gone on to lose 5 of their last 6 games. 4 of those losses were by one score or less so they have been playing tight games and I wouldn’t touch Saints -9.5 but I am confident that the Saints will get this win for us tonight. *Adding the Rockets to the parlay above would bump the odds to +120, they will be looking for revenge after that game they got fixed out of the last time they played the Spurs when they blew an 18 point lead in the 4th and the refs didn’t count Harden’s dunk* NFL: Teaser: 8:15 EST Saints (-3) / Over (41.5) - The Saints scored 46 points last week in a loss to the 49ers and would have covered this teased over themselves last week. The last 4 games have gone over 41.5 for the Saints and 3 of the last 5 games have gone over 41.5 for the Colts. I don’t see any issues with these teams going over 41.5 tonight. The Colts defense has been good against the run but not as good against the pass. I’m expecting the Saints to come out throwing the ball, especially since Drew Brees only needs 3 touchdown passes to break Peyton Manning’s All Time Touchdown Pass record. The Saints coming out firing is a good sign for us to cover the -3 and the over 41.5 for this teaser. Brees threw for 349 yards and 5 touchdowns in last week’s high scoring affair against a better defense than he will be facing tonight. All 7 of the Colts losses have come by 3 points or more this season. Give me the Saints -3 and give me over 41.5.
