Straight Plays go 2-1 with another JACKHAMMER winner and we only missed the big parlay by the Lakers and Mavs. 11-4 on straight plays this week. Let’s close the week out with a winning Sunday!!
Michigan State (-3) - so Michigan State is coming off of a road loss to Indiana but it’s not like it was a let down game. Indiana is a good team and they are 15-4. They only lost by 4. The Spartans will be on the road again today but this time it will be against a Minnesota team who they just beat 74-58 on Jan 9. Minnesota is 2-1 against ranked opponents but I’m relying on the results from the head to head matchup between these two teams a couple of weeks ago. Michigan State out-rebounded Minnesota 48-30 in that game (19 offensive boards). When you out-rebound a team like that, it’s going to lead to second chance points and big wins. I’m taking Michigan State to put together another good performance and cover the -3 today.
San Diego State (-6.5) - San Diego State comes in 20-0 and they have worked their way up to #4 in the rankings even though people knock them for not having played “anybody” or any ranked teams. They have however played a few common opponents of the UNLV team they will play today and it’s lining up like another good matchup for them. SDST beat Boise State 83-65 and UNLV lost to Boise State 73-66. UNLV lost 86-72 against Nevada and SDST beat Nevada 68-55. SDST beat BYU 76-71 and UNLV lost 83-50 against BYU. Looking at those matchups and point differentials, I’m liking San Diego State to cover for us today!
Wizards @ Hawks Under (241) - I know neither of these teams have played much defense this season but 241 is a fucking huge number. I can’t confirm but I think that’s the highest over under total for NBA this season. So, we are going with the under tonight. 7 of the last 10 combined games for these two teams have gone under 241. They just played each other on Jan 10 and the final score was 111-101, not even close to 241. Both of their season averages point to the under as well with both teams averaging 114.9 and 107.8 points per game and allowing 119.9 and 117.5 points per game. Literally any sort of defense for just a few minutes in this game and it will go under 241.
Clippers (-4.5) - The Clippers will take on the Magic who they just played 10 days ago and beat 122-95. Kawhi dropped 32 in that game. The Clippers have won 4 of their last 5. The Magic come in losers of 4 of their last 5 with all 4 of those losses coming by 5 points or more. If you saw the video I retweeted this morning, you can see that Kawhi is covering the spread on and off the court this season. I’ll take the Clippers to cover the -4.5 against the Magic who they just smoked 10 days ago.
