VIP Picks 2/17/24

1-1 on the day yesterday with an easy College Baseball parlay with thee 3 teams outsourcing their opponents 47-4! It’s crazy we got -120 odds on that. Still looking to make a move for the positive on the week so let’s see what we can put together today.

College Baseball:

12:00 EST

Parlay

Wake Forest ML / Arkansas ML / Texas A&M ML (-152) 🥇

  • Wake Forest comes into the season as the unanimous #1 ranked team and they started off the season with an easy 9-3 win yesterday. They kick us off at noon est and we will be looking for their offense to carry them again today against Illinois.

  • Arkansas beat James Madison 6-4 yesterday and it was a little closer than we expected it to be for the #3 ranked team. Back to them today with junior Brady Tygart on the mound who went 3-1 with a 1.80 ERA in SEC play last year. Max Kuhle will pitch for JMU and the Arkansas lineup should have more success against him than they did yesterday because he had a 7+ ERA last season.

  • Texas A&M beat McNeese 15-0 in Game 1 of the series yesterday and it should be more of the same today. They have won 10 of their last 11 vs McNeese.

College Basketball:

1:00 EST

Texas (+10.5) 🥈

  • Texas took Houston to overtime a couple weeks ago and fell 76-72 in that game. Texas was home in that one and they will be on the road today.

  • Houston is looking pretty dominant as the #3 ranked team with a 21-3 record overall but they are just 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games.

  • Texas holds a 3-3 record on the road this season but we’ve seen them play close games with top ranked school this season. They’ve covered +10.5 in 6 of their 8 games vs ranked teams.

  • Both teams should be hyped up for this Saturday afternoon matchup so let’s take Texas to battle and at least keep it within 10.

4:00 EST

Kansas (-122) 🥉

  • There’s no secret that Kansas has played like a bunch of pussies on the road 0-4 last 4 and 2-5 overall this season. I claimed I would put them on the do not bet list but here I am falling in love with another road matchup they have today.

  • They are going up against Oklahoma who they beat 78-66 in the first meeting and the crazy stat is that they shot horribly from three in that game 3 for 15 so that could have been an even bigger win. They won the turnover battle in that game which was key.

  • Oklahoma has been on a down slide losing by 17 to Baylor in their last game, 11 to UCF, & 15 to Texas in recent games since the last time they played Kansas.

  • It just feels like a game where Kansas can snap out of the road funk and put together a complete game against a team they already beat by double digits this season.

ADDED 6:15 EST

KANSAS IS BACK BABY! 2-1 to start the day so we are rolling out 2 more plays for the night cap. If you want to manage the bankroll the smart thing to do would be to bet the hockey play first to make sure it hits before locking in the UFC play that won’t start until later on. Let’s go.

NHL:

8:00 EST

Flyers / Devils Under (6.5) 🥈

  • This game is at MetLife Stadium as part of the NHL Stadium series.

  • These teams have gone under 6.5 in 7 of their last 10 games combined.

  • They’ve gone 1-1 in head to head games but had 3 late goals in the 1 that went over.

  • The Devils have allowed 2 or less goals in 4 straight games and the Flyers have allowed 3 or less goals in 4 of their last 5.

  • The Flyers have been great defensively all season and have the 2nd best power play kill in the league.

  • This is a huge game for both sides as they are going to be fighting for 3rd place in the Metropolitan Division.

  • Expect a playoff like atmosphere and that should lead to a low scoring game.

UFC:

12:15 AM EST

MAIN EVENT

Alexander Volkanovski (-125) 🥇

  • There sure is a lot of talk about hies Volk is too old and it’s time for him to pass the torch. I say not so fast and thanks for the -125 odds for the guy who’s 26-3 and has defended his featherweight title 5 times.

  • He tried to move up and take the Lightweight title and that didn’t end well for him but he’s back in the weight class that he’s dominated.

  • Topuria comes in 14-0 but he hasn’t fought a Top 5 opponent.

  • Volk averages 6.19 significant strikes per minute compared to 4.44 for Topuria.

  • Topuria has better numbers when it comes to take downs but Volk should win those exchanges.

  • The fight is projected to go the distance and the defending champ should have a slight edge with the judges as well.

  • “AND STILLL!!! THE UNDISPUTED FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLLLLLD ALEXANDERRRR THE GREAT VOLKANOVSKIIIIIIIII!!!” 🗣️
