Great start to the MLB Playoffs for us with the Rangers as underdogs and then the Phillies who were pretty much in control of the game right from the start. We went for 2 underdogs yesterday but the Blue Jays cost us. They had their chances to score but they couldn’t come through. On to today and I’m eyeing more valuable underdogs!
MLB:
3:00 EST
Rangers (Eovaldi) (+124)
New day, still great value, just as good of a matchup!
Nathan Eovaldi will pitch for the Rangers and he held this Rays lineup to 2 hits the last time he faced them on 7/18 (I know because we bet on the Rangers that day too).
Eovaldi had 2 rough starts to end the season but he’s had a lot of success against this Rays lineup holding them to a .178 avg in a large sample size of 80 at bats
Eovaldi has turned in some great starts as an underdog in the Postseason in recent years - 7 innings 1 run in a 16-1 game against the Yankees as a +160 dog (we were on it) and then again 5.1 innings 1 run in 1 6-2 game against the Yankees.
Zach Eflin will pitch for the Rays and he’s had a great year at 16-8 but he has given up homers and he had 5 starts this season where he allowed multiple homeruns. THis Rangers lineup ranks 3rd in homeruns hit with 233 and a big blast or 2 could be the difference in this game.
In fact, 2 of the 4 guys in the Rangers lineup who have faced Eflin before have taken him deep.
7:00 EST
DBacks (Gallen) (+110)
The DBacks took Game 1 and now they have their ace on the mound tonight for Game 2
Zac Gallen was 2nd in the league with 17 wins & 6th in strikeouts with 220 this season
Gallen absolutely dominated this Brewers lineup this season holding them to just 1 run in 14 innings and he had 15 strikeouts against them
Freddy Peralta will start for the Brewers and he’s been pretty good but he’s been knocked around a handful of times. If the DBacks get to Peralta early, this games going to be over early because the Brewers basically used everyone in their bullpen yesterday.
Even if Peralta turns in a quality start, we still get the DBacks going against a Brewers bullpen that all worked yesterday.
Gallen should be great and the DBacks might only need a run or 2 to win this one. I’m confident in that.
8:00 EST
Phillies (Nola) (-148)
Lock this one in as early as you can, I was expecting the line to be like -200 but it’s at -148 for now. Grab it asap!
The Phillies are rolling into Game 2 with confidence and they will face Marlins starting pitcher Braxton Garrett who they come in hitting .353 against
Aaron Nola will pitch for the Phillies and he has held this Marlins lineup to a .236 avg in a huge sample size of 164 at bats.
Phillies are going to close it out tonight.
