CCU will face 2-2 Illinois and starting pitcher Jack Crowder. Crowder dominated Akron in his first start of the season but looking back to last season, he had a 7.87 ERA and struggled whether it was giving up runs, struggling with control, or both. He allowed 8 runs and 8 walks in his first 2 starts last year. He allowed 7 runs in 1 inning vs Indiana, 7 runs in 2.1 innings vs Southern Mizz, 6 runs in 2.1 innings to Ohio State.
Riley Eickhoff will pitch for CCU and he pitched 6 scoreless innings in a 26-0 win in the opener. That shows some strong mental toughness to remain focused and sharp in a blowout like that. I trust him more than Illinois’ starter Crowder especially with what we know this CCU offense is capable of on a good day.
#6 Vanderbilt better start playing like the #6 team but they welcome 0-3 Gonzaga to town for the weekend.
They will take on Gonzaga pitcher Liam Paddack who allowed 3 runs in 3 innings and had 5 walks and 2 hit batters in his first start against UCLA. That’s a lot of free passes that this Vandy lineup will cash in on if he’s THAT bad again.Â
On the flip side, Vandy pitcher Carter Holton had a rough outing against Florida Atlantic but he’s better than what he showed in that one. He’s 12-5 through his first 2 seasons at Vandy. Look for him to get on track tonight vs Gonzaga’s offense that was shutout in their last game and only scored 3 runs the game before that. Vandy is averaging 7.4 runs per game and I don’t see Holton giving up more than 2 or 3 and another 1 or 2 from the pen at worst case.
NBA:

Both teams played last night and this -3.5 seems too good to be true. I’ll hold off until later in the day to make sure KD or Booker aren’t sitting out, Beal is likely out but still Suns -3.5 looks great.
The Rockets have gone 1-6 over their last 7 games losing by 22, 8, 9, 3, 3, & 21 in those losses.
These two played once this season on 12/27 and the Suns won 129-113. That game was in Houston as well and Beal didn’t play in that one.Â
The Suns had the Mavs within 5 starting the 4th last night before it got out of control. They get a weaker opponent tonight and should be able to take advantage of that.
Look for the Suns to cover this number and they could very well win by double digits.

The week has been a grind but it’s time to have some fun and BUST our the JACKHAMMER on a Friday Night!
The Thunder worked the Clippers at home last night and they will work the Wizards at home tonight. They are favored by 16.5 but we are only taking them to win straight up.
Next up will be the Warriors at home where they beat the Lakers 128-110 last night. They will host the 14-41 Hornets and I love betting against teams with reverse mirrored records.Â
The Lakers will have LeBron back after he sat out last night for an ankle/rest. They will host the Spurs who are 1-9 in their last 10. They did lose to them earlier this season and played a tight one but the Lakers should start playing with a little more purpose with it being the second half of the season and sitting in 9th place.
Nevada is on the road but facing a weak 9-18 San Jose St team who they beat by 30 when they faced them 21 days ago and they were up 43 at one point in that game. They might not win by 30 again but they should definitely win the game.
