VIP Picks 4/22/24

A strong finish to the week and Obi Toppin ended up being the different between a winning week and a losing week. Quite the recovery after how we started the week though. I’m focused on putting together a HOT streak this week not this back and forth shit we’ve been having the last few weeks.

MLB:

First 5 Innings

Phillies (Suarez) (-120) 🥈

  • Ranger Suarez will pitch for the Phillies and he’s coming off of a start where he pitched a complete game shutout and he’s actually on an 18 inning scoreless streak. Suarez is 3-0 with a 1.73 ERA this season and he’s held this Reds lineup to a .150 avg in a small sample size.

  • Hunter Greene will pitch for the Reds and this Phillies lineup comes in hitting .370 against him in a small sample size.

  • Reds come in on a 3 game winning streak but the Phillies come in on a 6 game winning streak.

  • We are goint to take the First 5 Innings moneyline at -120 over the full game line at -122 because the Phillies bullpen currently ranks last in the league in ERA. Suarez should definitely carry us through the first 5 innings and the Phillies should be able to score off of Greene.

NHL:

7:10 EST

Bruins (-135) 🥇

  • Game 1 was complete domination from the Bruins and they are carrying a lot of momentum into Game 2 tonight.

  • 5-1 final on Saturday and the Bruins improved to 5-0 against the Maple Leafs this season.

  • The Maple Leafs have also lost 5 games in a row dating back to the regular season.

  • Jeremy Swayman was great in net for the Bruins stopping 35 of 36 shots and he should be carrying that confidence over into Game 2 tonight.

  • On the flip side, Samsonov gave up 4 goals before the empty netter.

  • The Garden should be rocking again tonight so look for the Bruins to grab a 2-0 lead on the series.

Teaser 5 Pt (Even) Fanduel

76ers (+11) / Lakers (+12) 🥉

*MAXEY AND EMBIID MUST PLAY FOR ACTION

  • Both of these teams covered these numbers in Game 1 of their series with the Sixers losing to the Knicks by 7 and the Lakers losing to the Nuggets by 11.

  • Embiid is still not full strength as far his his conditioning but he still dropped 29 in Game 1. Maxey dropped 33. The Sixers need more from Harris, Batum, and Hield tonight.

  • The Sixers were outrebounded 55-33 so that’s a concerning stat. But they also got outrebounded that bad and still came within 7.

  • The Lakers were actually up 12 in the first half of this game but the Nuggets just fought back and pulled away in the second half.

  • The Lakers got to the free throw line and went 17 for 19 there so look for more of that. On the other end, they need to limit the offensive rebounds and second chance points for the Nuggets to keep this game close.

  • The Lakers have covered +12 in all 4 games against the Nuggets this season.

  • +10 and +12 feels like a lot of breathing room for two teams who will be desperately trying to grab a win on the road to even up their series.
