Round 1 Score

Akshay Bhatia Under (68.5)

Bhatia has fallen off a bit from some of the top finishes he had earlier in the season, he had a stretch where he finished Top 10 in 3 of 4. Then 3 in a row in the 40s. Then missed cut. Then 22 and 16. Then I’m throwing out last week because everyone sucked. Back to scoring this week at The Traveler’s Championship where 35 players finished -10 or better and the winner was -22. Bhatia played well here last year, posting 64, 65, 64, & 69 for -18 overall and a tied for 5th finish. It’s going to be hot and humid and a thunderstorm will probably pass through today but I like Bhatia to shoot -2 or better in Round 1 today.

Blue Jays (-142)

The Blue Jays have won the first 2 games of this series and have outscored the DBacks 13-5. They are facing Ryne Nelson today who they come in hitting .350 against in a small sample size. Another thing I like about Nelson starting for ARI is that he doesn’t usually last very long, he’s gone 5 innings or less in 13 of his 15 appearances this year. What I like about that is the DBacks bullpen that I expect to have to work heavily in this game and they are the 3rd worst in the league with a 5.39 ERA. This DBacks bullpen has already surrendered 9 runs in the first 2 games of this series. So I like the Blue Jays to get to Nelson and then whoever comes out of the pen today because surely someone will. Kevin Gausman will pitch for Toronto and his overall 5-5 record doesn’t look great but he’s 3-1 with a 3.31 ERA at home and he’s a guy who has won 12+ games each of the last 4 seasons aka I trust him.

Player Prop

Tyrese Haliburton Points Over (13.5)

I’ll admit it, I’m taking the bait here. He’s listed as questionable with a calf injury and he’s coming off of a game where he only scored 4 points. That’s factoring in to what has to be his lowest points prop total line of the season and I’m jumping all over it. Look at his game log throughout the playoffs, he’s had that one “dud” game in each series - 8 in Game 5 vs the Knicks, 4 in Game 3 vs the Cavs, & 10 in Game 1 vs the Bucks. He’s still gone over 13.5 in 16 of his 21 playoff games (76% trend). And when has he been his best? When has he REALLY come alive? C’mon I know you all know the answer…YES, when the Pacers look like they are dead in the water, THANK YOU! Everyone and I mean everyone is saying it’s a wrap, Haliburton is soft, Thunder blowout on deck. Lock in over 13.5 points for Haliburton, sit back, and enjoy the “Haliburton calf game.”
