2nd half of the MLB season kicks off tonight, let’s have ourselves a great second half! We have some momentum after the final week of the 1st half where we went into the final day of the week up 4 units. Limited and targeted action will lead to more success!
MLB:
6:40 EST
Phillies (Nola) (-155) 🥇
An easy one to start off the 2nd half with with 11-4 Aaron Nola going up against the Pirates and 1-5 Martin Perez.
The Phillies have hit Perez hard in the past coming in with a .317 avg against him in 82 at bats. Perez also got rocked in 2 of his last 3 starts allowing 11 runs in 8.2 innings combined in those 2 games. Phillies should crush him tonight.
Aaron Nola will take the ball for the Phillies and he has shut down this Pirates lineup in the past holding them to a .200 avg in 100 at bats.
We won’t forget that the Phillies lost 18-3 on Sunday when we took them but they owe us one and this is a great matchup for them tonight. Surprised this line is even in the -150 range as I expected it to be closer to -200.
6:45 EST
Reds (Montas) (-125) 🥉
You know who wasn’t an All Star? Patrick Corbin. 1-9 with a 5.57 ERA….guy sucks! Well he actually won a game against the Reds this season but it’s deceiving because he allowed 4 runs in 4.1 innings and this Reds lineup comes in hitting .446 against him! 25 for 56 with a 714 slugging percentage! That is probably the best collective numbers for any team against Corbin so lock in.
Frankie Montas is pitching for Cinci and he tossed 6 scoreless innings against them earlier this season as well as holding them to a .208 avg in their career against him.
Go Reds!
7:10 EST
Mets (Manaea) (-135) 🥈
Sean Manaea is pitching for the Mets and he’s been on a tear with a 1.44 ERA over his last 4 starts. He’s facing the Marlins tonight who he already beat 7-3 this season so let’s roll with him to keep pitching well against the 2nd worst lineup in the league.
The Mets bats were hot going into the break scoring 5+ in 6 straight games. They will face Edward Cabrera and his snowman ERA 8.26 tonight so they should pick up right where they left off.
The Mets were 11 games below .500 at one point this season and they are now 3 games over .500 so they have been playing really good over the last month and a half.
LGM!
