Ahhh Happy College Football Week 1! It is here and we have quite the slate! Let’s pick our spots and stay hot 5-2 on non player props to start the season. Enjoy the day!

12:00 EST

Texas (-115)

Texas was +3 earlier this summer and bettors have moved the line all the way to -1.5. Let’s go moneyline here. Ohio State Buckeyes are the defending champs but they’ve lost A LOT. QB, RBs, 8 of 11 starters on defense, offense and defense coordinators. OSU QB has 12 career passing attempts. Texas returns a lot from a team who remembers who knocked them out of the playoff last year. Remember Texas was going in to tie and then strip sack, score the other way? Anyways, revenge is on the Longhorns mind. Their defense ranked #2 last year and brings back more than half of the unit. Arch Manning takes the reigns at QB. I think a key to this game will be Texas RB duo of Wisner & Baxter who combined for 1,700+ rushing yards last year. Plus this Texas O Line looks to have the advantage vs a new defensive front for OSU. Everything is in Texas favor other than being on the road but let’s take the better team today. HOOK EM!

Parlay

Tennessee ML / Mississippi St ML / Purdue ML / Iowa St ML (-116)

Tennessee has a new QB but they still have a strong defense that led them to a 10 win season last year. Syracuse will not be as good as they were last year. Vols win. Miss St looks to kick off a bounce back year and face Southern Miss who are 4-20 over the last 2 seasons. SEC >. Purdue faces one of the worst football teams on the planet in Ball St who allowed 40+ ppg last season. Purdue had a horrible year but they win the toilet bowl in Indiana today. Iowa St got off to a 1-0 start in Dublin last week now they are home where they went 6-2 last season. They are hosting FCS opponent South Dakota and shouldn’t lose this game.

3:30 EST

Alabama (-13.5)

Adjusted spread I’ll take the half point at -123 odds to get it under 2 touchdowns. Florida St went 2-10 last season and 0-3 vs ranked opponents while getting outscored 117-30 in those games so sign me up for a hungry and loaded #8 Bama team today. Bama coach Kalen DeBoer has always improved his team in year 2 so Bama is expecting big things after 9-3 last season. Bama has a new QB but WR Ryan Williams makes any QB great. Starting RB Jam Miller is banged up but Richard Young steps in and I expect him to have a big game with the FSU defense focusing on slowing down the pass. The talent gap is big here and the Tide should Roll plus they haven’t lost a season opener since 2001 and have covered -14 in 17 of their last 20.

7:30 EST

Player Prop

Justice Haynes (Mich) Rushing Yards Over (89.5) - Michigan is starting a freshman QB so it’s a good spot for Haynes to get touches early. He’s going up against a New Mexico St defense that allowed 207.8 rushing yards per game last season. This game will be a blowout so the only risk is Haynes getting taken out early but I honestly could see him cover this number by halftime against this sorry ass defense.

Oregon State (-105)

Oregon St are home dogs tonight against a Cal team that lost the most players in all of College Football to the portal during the offseason. Cal will start a freshman QB on the road and Oregon St fans should be loud against Cal who bailed on the Pac 12. Oregon St brings back their leading rusher Anthony Hankerson who ran for 1,000+ last year and they got QB Maalik Murphy through the portal who was Top 25 in passing yards and Top 15 in passing touchdowns. Oregon St has won 4 of the last 6 head to head meetings. Cal has a lot of question marks so let’s roll with the home dog.
