VIP Picks 9/18/24

0-3 rough Tuesday. We have to snap out of this cold streak….can’t keep having bad luck like this. The trends are there but the results are definitely not. Trying my best to put us in position to snap out of it.

3:10 EST

Diamondbacks (ERod) (-162) 💪 🥇

  • STRONG play to start the day, bet it to win 1 unit.

  • ERod will pitch for the Diamondbacks and he was solid against this Rockies lineup back on 8/13 when he held them to 3 runs over 5 innings. Long term, he’s held this Rockies lineup to a .216 avg in 41 at bats so I love the looks of those head to head numbers.

  • 5-10 Austin Gomber will pitch for the Rockies and this DBacks lineup has had consistent success against him over the years hitting .333 in 129 career at bats. ARI has gone 3-1 in their last 4 against Gomber.

  • It’s also a game where the DBacks should be coming out with some urgency after dropping the first 2 games in this series against a team they should be (and have been beating all season). Their Wild Card spot lead is sitting at 2 so look for the DBacks to be motivated to get back on track today.

6:50 EST

Red Sox (Houck) (-105) 🥉

  • The Red Sox will have Tanner Houck back from a few weeks off and on the mound tonight against the Rays who he threw 7 scoreless innings against and only allowed 2 hits last time he faced them.

  • Ryan Pepiot will pitch for the Rays and you never really know how long he will last but the Sox did score 3 runs in 4 innings against him earlier this season.

  • The Red Sox have lost 4 out of their last 5 but they are in an interested spot because a win and Twins loss today or tomorrow sets up a head to head weekend series with Wild Card implications.

9:40 EST

Yankees (Cortes) (-122) 🥈

  • The Yankees beat up on the Mariners last night with an 11-2 win and they are closing in on clinching a playoff berth.

  • They will face Bryce Miller tonight who they come in hitting .324 against in 38 career at bats. They really hit him hard last time they faced him earlier this sason for 5 runs in 6 innings including 3 homeruns (Judge and Soto X2) in a 7-3 win.

  • Nestor Cortes will pitch for NYY and he’s just 9-10 on the season but the Yankees have won 5 of his last 6 starts. He also threw 5 scoreless innings against this Mariners lineup earlier this season and he’s held them to a .219 avg in 84 at bats.
